Hi, just need advise . Lower joint on steering rack part number 32312225580 price 180£ has developed
a small play, it affects the car handling a bit,
i went to local dealer to find out the price and if it's avaliable
or not and was told that BMW can not find the manufacture
who originaly made them. and the actual part that has developed the play is swivel joint , it's number 5 on the bmw ETK diagram,
but for some reason if you want to buy m3 part , you have to buy the whole unit witch is number 11 on ETK, but when i put let's say e30 325i 1990 , you can but this part separately part number is 323 111 54 414 around 50 euros,
the question is , if i buy swivel joint for 325i , will it fit an M3 lower steering joint ? or the internal thread is different size?
or overall lenght is different too?
please help

here is m3 part 11

here is 325 i part 5

The M3 part has a different size spline. A 325 part will not fit.

Incidently , The M3 rubber disc is dimensionally the same as a standard E30 one but is much more rigid, alas it is NLA , but the standard 'soft' one isn't :(

I may have a good complete used coupling.

Yes, straight on ,BUT , unless you are paedo type that drives with gloves, it will get matted and nasty in no time .

Soni, we know you are a paedo, but the question is, do you drive with gloves ? :)

No I don't

I ain't no Paedo

I got the M3 Sport Evolution steering wheel all boxed up

Till I get enough to complete the Sport ....

I don't drive with gloves but I do have a dehumidifier does that count :-) ?

Anyway I thought you were the Paedo :-P ?

i agree with pete!

i've got a sportevo gear knob on mine, and it went manky pretty quickly, and you hold it a lot less than a steering wheel. keep a leather one on when using the car, stick the suede one on to impress weirdos at shows :D
cheers,

Still wear/go shiny remarkably quickly. My Sparco one has less than 2k miles on it and is ready for the bin.

Track only really

they'll last a lot longer with gloves than bare hands, but will still look terrible really quickly compared to leather.

So does it actualy mean that lower part of the steering shaft of an m3 e30 has diff thread size,
but the top of the shaft is the same coz steering wheel interchangble across all e30s.
