i know i will get better info here then from the states sites. i have a 323i over here in the states. they did not get them here unless imported by some one. i want to end up getting some more power out of the car. right now the motor is all stock with dogleg trans and a 3.91lsd. i have a few 885 heads here. i do not want to stroke the motor. i want to keep a 2.3. can i swap a 885 head on with a cam and the whole m1.3 system an make some nice power or what are my options?

It will fit but the pistons on the 323i are designed to match the 731 combustion chamber. So what you might gain in flow due to the bigger valves you will probably lose out in poor combustion chamber dynamics
have a read here its about the strokers builds but has info on the piston shapes

an idea might be to copy the alpina c2.5 which used a 323i crank, with a bored out block and 84mm pistons

How about using a 325i cam and 325i inlet/throttle body?

323i cam is a "wilder" cam than a stock 325i
but a 325 throttle body would be a good mod

IIRC the use of a b23 crank with b25 pistons & an 885 head should result in a 2.6 (not sure if you have to use the b25 block aswell).
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

A 731 or 200 head fitted with enlarged valve seats and the biggest valves that wont clip the 80mm bore (42mm should go, 43mm might) and the ports worked over by someone at least competent will provide plenty of flow for a 2.3l engine.
M1.3 would help a lot, however M3.1 from an early 320 e36 might also be better. Its not as hard a conversion as it sound:

all depends how far you want to go and how much you want to spend.
