An oil temp sensor from the dealers for an e30 m3 which is wired back to the tacho and then you need a t-piece style sump plug or something?

To get the M3 oil temp gauge working you need the E30 M3 Oil temp sensor - 12 61 1 309 193
It just so happens to be the same thread as the M20 sump plug. Fit into your sump as a replacement sump plug and wire it back to the clocks, job done
I would assume that the coding plug needs changing from the 4pot to a 6pot one, but Im hoping someone else can answer that for definite.

Changing the plug wont work, you need to change the inpet pulse from 6 to 4 and use the S14 coding plug.

U would need to get the Tacho re calibrated... I've been thinking of doing this just for the Oil Temp sensor... and so that it stays stock looking.
Just got a bunch of otherthings to do first.
One thing, think I should run a wire down there cause the dash is coming out soon, to be recovered in leather... just a thought
