Those twin webbers suck harder than my mrs and that pretty good going! Dont let your wife to be see this thread or she will cancel your train ticket up north to collect!
Do they make a big difference? I had an is before I wonder how it''ll compare to drive. I wouldn't want to swap them out if it strips the performance too much.
Last one i had delivered came from Newcastle, lovely car buy not sure how he managed to get it here as 10 minutes after the guy left the autobox fucked up needing torque converter! what happened to that guy RM something???
two different people completely .this car is in daily use and made it in convoy with me to pod and back no problem.the haggis weather will kill it off before the engine breaks

Yes mike thats it, had a blue 320 touring, if i had looked into his previous threads i would have seen he bought it fucked, he get me another autobox but still cost me another couple of hundred, nice guy though!
The Colortune is screwed in place of a spark plug and lets you see the colour of the combustion flame, so you can set the mixture to the correct light blue flame - not strictly necessary (you can just go on the colour of the plug tips), but helpful.
The Carbalancer is a gadget that shows you the amount the carbs are sucking, so you stick it in each barrel and adjust the carbs so they are drawing more or less the same amount of air - this balances them.
Unless the mixture and balance are set properly, the engine will run roughly, be down on power, and probably use more fuel than it should, so it pays to get them set up right.

ah the blue touring he got a bonnet for ,it had an m-tech 11 kit didn't it and you got a rush of blood to the c0ck and even though it was a 320 you still bought it.

was a nice car but i sold it and got moneys back as the 320 just did not have enough power for the amount of petrol it used, looking back with rose tinted specs i should have kept it lol
Welcome back to the e30 fold Paul. That car looked to be a bit of a bargain. I would say find a good mechanic familiar with carb setups. I can recommend a garage down my way that specialise in rally cars and cars of the older variety.

Nice badge, and even had a spoiler on the boot! Tidy.

I understood the last bit as pay for it to get set up correctly lol the rest sounds confusing lol. I''ll get reading. Cheers again

They are actually fairly straightforward carbs once you get used to them. Just a collection of emulsion tubes, jets, etc., that atomise the fuel/air mixture and direct it around the carb ports.
However, setting up a pair of twin Webers isn't for a novice, so best to let someone who knows their onions look at them.

Take it to someone with a rolling road and gas analyser and ask them to set it up properly. That's the only way you'll get them spot on. Get the ignition timing and valve clearances done whilst you're there as they'll play a large part in how it runs.
With a dizzy with a good ignition advance unit on it, and the right jets, 120HP shouldn't be too hard to get out of it, along with a big bag of torque between 3.5 and 4.5k rpm.
Don't listen to the doom mongers, I've had twin webers on 3 cars, never had any reliability problems on any of them. Twin factory downdraughts on a 205xs, never had to touch them in 38k miles of use and twin 40 dcoes on a pinto engined westfield (sub 20 mpg thirst, but thats what happens when you squeeze as much as you can out of one of these lumps) and twin 40's also on a van engined 924 with a home brew manifold, economy wasn't much worse than my other standard one and performance seemed better. This one did need a tune before every MOT, but thats probably more to do with them still being jetted for the Lotus they came off.
