The problem is the same as ever, check control light for brake bulbs coming on at random. Having the back board that the instruments mount onto changed on wed., is this likely to have any effect? It seems to be fine at the beginning of every journey and then randomly comes on, appears to coincide with using the indicators, does this point to a particular problem?

Also, having changed my front indicators to smoked (and therefore an orange bulb as opposed to clear) every so often the indicator does double speed as if to indicate a blown bulb and the front right doesn't work. I get out, unscrew the bulb, put it back in and all is fine for another few weeks!! Is this a shitty bulb, shitty contacts or what? The fact that is only happens once in a while confuses me!!!

Any help on both these STOOPID problems really appreciated.

Check your rear clusters for dodgy connections/damp/other nastiness, this can cause intermittent probs.

Check the earth contacts and get decent bulbs if you still have a problem it could be a faulty brake light switch as they are a common cause of false warnings on E30s

I'll second the brake light switch as a favourite cause of this problem.

For the indicators check the plug behind the indicator, you can just get your hand behind the bumper to waggle it. Mine has similar fault to yours, if it keeps happening you may need to remove the bumper to fully check the plug.
