I bought a Mauritius Blue Cab 325i with manual box last week that is a Cat C and has had a knock on the front driver's side. I want to get it back to glory but thinking to convert it to a Motorsport, is it worth it?
Also apart from the kit, suspension, door handles and interior, what else is different? Anyone know what the leather/cloth code is for the interior?

You'd have to paint it Macau Blue to be remotely convincing. But it will never be any more than a morseled up turd..

This! Plus will cost you more to source all the unique motorsport parts (if you can) than it'll ever be worth. Same goes for most E30s though to be fair!snakebrain wrote:But it will never be any more than a morseled up turd..

Mauritius blue was also Motorsport colour.....snakebrain wrote:You'd have to paint it Macau Blue to be remotely convincing.
Bits needed will include:
M-tech2 kit
Full Lotus White Leather (seats, doorcards, centre console, rear tonnue cover)
Nogaro grey centred BBS's
Full shadowline
And it will look pretty convicing, add to that an LSD and M tech suspension if you want to go the whole hog.... But it will cost a fair bit of wedge, there' a member who's done just this recently with pics in the photo section....
In the long run probably better to save up for the real thing if a Motorsport is what you fancy, unless you just fancy a project....

I'd put the mtec 2 kit on, and bbs split rim reps on if your on a budget - end of the day its a cat c so will never be worth amazing money - but will still be a nice car.

Yep, the 4th and final run of motorsports in '91 were facelift cars with a tech 2 kit and either calypso red or Mauritius blue with extended lotus white leather.snakebrain wrote:Really? There have been several on here in each colour over the years.
The is a zoner called cabman I think who has owned a new Mauritius one from new. He part ex'd an early metal bumper motorsport for it which he also owned from new.

I fail as an E30 geek! But good to know anyway. Mauritius on a convertible is one of my favourites..bss325i wrote:Yep, the 4th and final run of motorsports in '91 were facelift cars with a tech 2 kit and either calypso red or Mauritius blue with extended lotus white leather.snakebrain wrote:Really? I have new and unused original BMW lotus leather rear side panels with speaker covers, a ropey pair of silver grey Motorsport / M3 convertible leather front door cards and a silver grey Motorsport leather console available

Don't hold your breath on that one, those interiors are very hard to find and if you do find one, it'll be an expensive transaction !l16ydl wrote:Cheers guys, thought as much. I was thinking that, its got grey leather already and trying to weigh up the cost of putting the woven centres in.Topblag wrote:Don't hold your breath on that one, those interiors are very hard to find and if you do find one, it'll be an expensive transaction !l16ydl wrote:Cheers guys, thought as much. Why do you want woven centre ie bubble?
That trim came on the third batch of motorsports which were either Sebring grey or Macau blue and would be wrong for a Mauritius car.
If your car has grey leather already, buy the extended leather bits that Pacerpete has mentioned and have it all dyed lotus white.
Job done.

This
Lotus white extended leather is THE trim to have in an E30 convertible , especially a mauritius blue one.
Grey is grim
