I've got a 316 m10 running on the original pierberg carb. Car has only done 6000miles.
Once its up to temperature it idles erratically, with revs rising and falling. Whilst driving along it dies every time you slow down.
Any ideas what this could be?
Before anyone says it i know the pierberg carb is poo but someone must know how to make them run properly???
I've checked the vacum lines and haven't found any leaks.

There's a potentiometer on the carb. that indicates throttle position. If this fails, it gives your symptoms.
I had one of these around nineteen years ago, and spent many happy hours trying to keep the carb. system running properly, until I gave up and did what i should have done in the first place - fit a Webber.

Tsk, Brian, as someone with your technical level of know-how, I would expect you to spell Weber correctly.

I do! I've got a keyboard that keeps 'bouncing' and putting in double letters all over the place. Spell checker underlines them in red, but the stupid thing accepts Webber but not Weber!

Sounds like you'll be doing a keyboard rebuild this weekend, then...we'll need to see a Wiki guide, of course.
