Looking smart. My favourite car on here and glad to see someone knows how to put a headlining in!

This turned up today, tech 2 tailgate action. Will need a repaint but it should be a nice finishing touch and make the car faster

I'm gonna love it even if you won't notice as black is the worst colour for having all this clobber on the wagon!
Cost a pretty penny, but thanks to Simon on here who i got it off.

Another reason to get the sides painted now
Someone kind has left this down the side for me

Good scrape, no dent but still rather annoying

Teach me to leave it in a multi story carpark on sunday for a couple of hours. Thats the only place i can think it would of happened! C**ts
teach me won't it

W4nkers! Did it ever get the new drivers door? If it did at least thats untouched.
Take a positive from a negative Si. no excuses now. With the rest of that side painted it'll make it proper nice.

Well you might all think that this one is being ignored. Used everyday and generally abused. As always the evergreen wagon is soldering on with no fuss and all of the above is true as its the only care out of 4 i have which is working! The B3 will join it soon
It had an oil change a couple of weeks ago along with some new plugs - they're from the 2 door saga.
Anyhow today saw some cambelt action it was just over the 3 year mark
where did that go and had covered 28,000 so along with the itch to look at the end of the camshaft again because of the 2 door saga

oh look 1 hole!

I changed PAS tensioner for a new one, the replacement is much longer so BMW must of realised at some point the old ones were too short which they are or the belts suddenly got longer?! who knows but its nice to have tensioners with teeth.

I didn't f**k the timing on this and it re started! i've been a pikey and used the belt andf tensioner from the 2 door

I've been meaning to do this since the MOT as the drivers outer ball joint had an alarming amount of play in it. And you guessed it this car is still on its ali wishbones. This one is a good spare i have with the correct TCA bush fitted so an easy swap job

This is why you can't swap ball joints out of the ali arms. As they break, and the ball joint is different. Its smaller as you can see the steel arm is the bottom one just to show the difference

Levering it here showed up the up/down play in the ball joint. This is what causes the famous front end "knock" you get on E30's 9 times out of 10

Arm out.......................

Arm in, job jobbied
As always its never ending. It needs gearbox mounts now and theres a leak on the box. I had all the seals changed 3 years ago. I've also noticed the bite point on the clutch has suddenly got quite high and very on/off. I can't believe its going already, its probably only done 50-60,000 max. I guess thats 3 rings trips and 3 trips to santa pod that have done that at a guess.
Tyres are low too
more money! i need to buy the bro in law out also. The deal is i pay him some money by the summer. Whether that comes from selling it and splitting the money or i buy his half out. We shall see.

Good job si and a positive diversion from the disaster in the garage. Nice when a day goes to plan yes?
You'll get some cash for the bronzit car Si. Will that keep him quiet?

Some of you may know that I took over as custodian of this turd, I thought I might just put up a little update.
This is my latest post from detailing world, enjoy.
Ok, so spent most of today stripping the car down for paint, apart from the rear lights she's ready, i'm leaving these in for now to keep it water tight.
Here goes:-
As she stood this morning.

Stripping the tailgate down.

Bit crusty but this will be cleaned up, treated and resprayed.
The all important Alpina scripts, not sure what to do with these they need a refurb, anyone got any ideas????

Rear panel, again it's a bit crusty but once it's cleaned up it'll be fine.

Bumpers stripped.

Bin fodder!!!

side skirts off.

These skirts were only seen on UK C2's and were actually part of the BMW "Aerodynamic" body kit. I don't like them, i'll probably put it back on SE skirts which is how it was originally supplied.
Front end all stripped out.

Compost!!!

Nice and clean!!!

I actually went round the whole car with a brush and some surfex just to clean up behind trims etc, looks much better.
Grilles looking very faded, I have a better set but I might just get some nice new ones.

Right there, brand new, genuine, full 2 piece exhaust, BIG money but worth it.

I wanted a three piece so I could use my Janspeed manifold eventually, it's a bit gnarly at the moment and needs work. Sadly the front pipes are NLA, I bit the bullet and went 2 piece, i'll worry about mating it all up later!!!
And finally the result, she's booked in the bodyshop a week wednesday.

Thanks. I like to think so. It's a really good, solid car, Si looked after it well, my focus is on making it a tidy, usable example, in my ownership it won't see the use Si gave it.

Everything except the roof Trev, but I am starting to think that for the extra £250 I might just get it done anyway, having said that there isn't anything wrong with the roof the Makita polisher won't sort.
The boys at work did this for me too. I don't have any pics of what it looked like pre repair but trust me it was hanging together by a thread!!!!

Looks like this now!!!

This too.

Lots of elastsizer in there, why did they make stuff like this out of rubber
Plans are to fit all new trims on the outside, bumper inserts, door mouldings, etc etc and then gold stripes!!!
I have de-loused the interior already but it does need further cleaning, the seats will be stripped down and treated to a furniture clinic overhaul and re coloured (same colour) and the head lining will be re-trimmed in black cloth. After that i'll start going through the suspension and having bits powder coated. As many will know this car is not the usual rotten pig, it's solid in all the right places, just needs a tidy up
Si looked after this car VERY well...

Oh yes, she's getting the full shizzle, I can't wait to get it back and fit it up with shiny new trinkets. I'll be getting the wheels poder coated again, the last time they were done they did a dreadful job.

This car went into the right hands after Si.
Not a lover of Tourings despite owning a couple myself but this is one is up there for me.
Glad it stayed in the "Surrey circle".

Quite agree Barry, I'm very glad it stayed in Zone ownership, Steve is very capable & it will be kept original, which is the main thing.

One condition of the sale was that Si got first refusal should I ever sell it, not that I ever will. This car is never likely to leave the Surrey mob let alone the Zone!!!

Only a small update, I paid a visit to the body shop on saturday, unfortunately John was just leaving so only managed to get a couple of crappy photos, he's made good headway, all repairs have been done down the sides, the new door has been painted, he's going to do all the little bits around the back end on monday and hopes to have it painted by thursday.

As you can see, the whole car has been scotched, next week he'll finish all the repairs to the bonnet and around the boot aperture, as well as door shuts, then it's on to flatting and priming before another check to see if there are anymore dints to sort.
