Guys,
My mates 325tds keeps stalling on him at idle speeds. He's changed the fuel filter as a precaution but that made no difference and tried another ECU and that got it to just about tick over but it then wouldn't drive.
Any ideas with these turds?
Cheers
Dave

The ECU's and injection pumps have to be perfectly matched part numbers on these, no guessing will work as he's found out. What are the exact circumstances of the stalls, coming off the overun, just merrily idling then conking out?
There's an O-ring on the (engine bay) fuel filter that can cause problems with breaking the seal of fuel to the injection pump, it's about 4" dia.
More than likely it's worn injectors, they weren't designed for sulphur free diesel.
Ps) I've had two of these, the latter with much higher miles had stalling issues.

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

I'll pass that on to him and also get more details of when it is stalling.
