Probably a silly question
When changing a cambelt on an m40 you would use a drill bit or similar to lock the flywheel, however if i have an auto am i still able to do this, given an auto doesn have a flywheel?

Did one back in the summer - exactly the same procedure as with a manual. Didn't even occur to me that it might be different, TBH.

Assuming the car has a belt on it and is running fine, no need. Tipp-ex or a touch up stick is your friend.

True as far as changing the belt is concerned, but you need to determine TDC if you're going to check that the cam pulley is positioned correctly on the cam nose taper.pacerpete wrote:Assuming the car has a belt on it and is running fine, no need. Tipp-ex or a touch up stick is your friend.
