Hi

I have a e36 steering rack that i want to fit into my e30. I found this great article on this site about doing it and the only problem i have is the uj.
I have both an e36 & e30 uj that i want to mate up with a metal disc as discribed in this article...but the pictures are too small to make out the dimensions and the zip file does not work?

http://84.45.115.78/e30zonewiki/index.p ... onversions

Does anyone have the dimensions of the metal disc for the uj or a bigger pic? Hope someone can help.....

Couldn't tell you dimensions. You could just take measurements and take that to an engineer.

Or for a better option, contact DanThe as he sells splined shafts to go with 2 E34 UJs. And also PAS lines.

I've cut the rubber part out of mine then bolted the two halves together with no disc. Works fine.mine was an e46 rack tho.

Thanks for the quick replies, I will have a go at removing the rubber and see if that works.....I was thinking about using e34 ujs and splined shaft but the e34 ujs are going for silly money on ebay, people want £50 plus for a pair

b12rlw, Did you bolt the 2 e30 ujs together or a e30 and e46 uj? Only info i have found is on american sites, thanks for your help.

Used the standard e30 parts. There's a male spindle on one of them that inserts into the other part. The base of this needs ground down (or the hole opened) it's just for centering and does nothing else. Also two spacers or washes may need to be used to keep the new mating faces apart slightly. I'll post a pic when I'm next at the workshop.

b12rlw's method is only good for the E46 rack I think.
