got a 328i m52 in my e30
328 gearbox, m20 325 flywheel, starter motor and sachs clutch
am running the m20 release bearing, so far two of my slave cylinders have pissed themselves and popped the rod out, i'm running the e36 slave cylinder.
i've read on here people have welded a inch or so onto the end of the rod of their slave cylinder to solve the issue, i'm seriously contemplating doing this because i'm too scared to go on long journeys and my e30 is my daily driver so i need to drive it in confidence.
how does welding a small part onto the end of the rod change the characteristics of the pedal feel, is the biting point higher??
any help appreciated
i've put a 10mm stopper behing the pedal but i have a feeling the slave cylinder will pee pee itself sooner or later.
m52 328i clutch slave cylinder please help

The proper way to do it is to make the release bearing longer. A longer push rod puts the release arm at an extreme angle, downside is the bearing and/or clutch will probably wear out faster as most of the pressure will be on the one side of the arm/bearing

but do you think putting a longer rod ie extending it by 10mm or so should cure the problem dan, i haven't got the time to take the engine out and change the bearing.

Is it defo an E36 328 slave cylinder? Ive never heard of one popping the rod out while in use, ive used the E30 master and E36 slave/box with M20 clutch/flywheel/release bearing lots of times and never had a problem.
Extending the rod will keep it in the slave cylinder more yes
