to anyone that has done an M50 conversion,

what do I need to change to sort this?

The pipe to the ICV is fouling on the master cylinder.

I am using an M50 manifold and late mk2 golf servo

Kind regards

Which master cylinder are you using, i think it has to be a 1.3 master cylinder as the gti one is too big.

using the E30 Master cylinder, with the 16 valve servo.

I have now found the problem, which is the there are two different types of elbow. One with the pipe for the idle control valve right next to the throttle body:

and the other half way up the elbow:

Now all I have to do is find the part number for the 2nd one as BMW only recognise the top one. Bummer.

Excellent sounds like you've half solved your own problem.

EDIT: Thinking about it there may have been a modification and can only source the top one, this happens quite a lot in parts, i should know i used to work for a parts department abeit not a bmw one. Real pita.

i've got the same set up as you andy and mine just sits about 1-2mm from the end of the master cylinder. it could be the elbow. mine is all e34 so that could be the difference. even with the porsche servo it still clears. if your are still havin probs once it's all in and mounted just slacken everthing and have a bit of a shuffle about with the pipes and maf. if you can tilt it up a bit. hopefully that should do it. hope u get it sorted m8 :thumb:

Now randomdave325 has mentioned it, I remember that I lifted my air filter/AFM up from the first psition I tried to get a bit more clearance on this elbow.

Hi guys, here is what I think is the solution to my problem:

Image

On the left is the old elbow and on the right is the new elbow with the pipe outlets in the middle :D

Hope this solves it :)

How are yours going guys?

Thanks for all the help as always, and esp Stu for sorting the part number for me :thumb:
