Hi all, I hope someone can help me trouble shoot this issue. I have an 1987 320i that I recently rebuilt the motor on. It ran fantastic for the first 1000kms or so. It very quickly started quitting and not starting all the time. i replaced the fuel filter and it started which it hadn't done for a while but the problem remained. If and when it randomly starts after sitting, it'll idle rich and stutter at higher rpm then cut out completly after a few minutes and not start. If I pull the fuel line at the engine I'll get tons of fuel and 90psi. Reinstall it and the car will start and idle perfectly but only for a few minutes then die and not start. Spark never seems to be an issue so I'm thinking something with the motronic fuel system. Also interestingly it will often cut out by tapping the front of the car then not even fire unless I leave it for a day or so. Bad connection somewhere? Any ideas would be great. Thank you very much.

Sorry, I should be more clear that I dead headed the fuel pump and it hit 90psi but I haven't teed in to find the current running pressure. I'll probably try that next.

Awesome, tks I'll try that tomorrow. The plugs are always dry when I pull them after it won't start. The distributor is on the side of the motor.
