A 1000 will get you a respray but not a very good one.

is it not a bit common sense that the price can immensly vary depending on who does it and their quality, personly wouldnt touch anyone under 1500 bare minimum, but still its not price its quality of their work, anyone of any quality will be a busy in demand man and have customers queing up and a waiting list and therefore will have no need or desire to be cheap
also i presume, it will vary a bit on location around the country, for instance...a decent sprayer in a deprived hard up area feeling the pinch, where theres generaly not a lot of people wanting cars re sprayed, would be cheaper than someone at a busy place deyn seyf in chelsea

True I spoke to a guy in Glasgow quoted £1500 and I thought that sounded okay but not great... based on total guestimation
Then seen a 318is no Mot and hardly a lick of paint left on it and the guy wanted £800 with no MOT so moved on but wanted to know what I was looking at if I ever did want to get one needing paint.
Also the amount that are ridled around the arches is scary maybe its not much work once you start it just looks horrendous.
Ideally want another 318is needing minor interior work but simple stuff I can spend a Saturday afternoon tinkering with.
Thank you for the input.

whats up with your 318is then ? paint looked nice in the pics the other month ?
a lot/most e30s need or have had rear arch issues sorting, now days a big percentage you see for sale it says something about bubbling or slight rust , or worse, on the rears

Paul, comming back the world of E30's I thought after your luck with your last IS you would have given up.
Pretty much everything for sale in Scotland at the moment has been shite, I viewed a 325i sport a few weeks back local to me which was up for just shy of 3 grand and it was rotten everywhere.
Your best bet is to watch out for a decent car through the for sale threads here and a reputable zoner it will save you a fortune in the long run.
I use a guy down here in Ayr called Eric based on green street lane, he looks about 100 years old but his work is excellent should you need a car painted. He has quoted me £1650 for a full respray on the cabby but that's him taking his time to do it over a winter when I don't use the car.

you'll find cabbys are cheaper in the winter but E30 prices are only going one way, albeit gradually.
I'm selling a Tech II Sport shell which has most panels painted and the rust tackled (new arches, wings, scuttle and towing eye repair). Buy the shell or buy all or some of the bits to put it back together. I need to get this moved, there's two better E30s bidding for the space.

Ide go for Colins offer. Most the hard works done just have to get manual bits sorted and leave the auto deviant with his slush box bits.
Then you get to see a clean shell and bolt it back together.

That sounds perfect for what you want. It'll be like a flat pack Ikea purchase.Topblag wrote:
