Is turbo'ing the IS a popular option?
Im not too keen on engine swapping, but im definitely up for a turbo build.
Has it been done?
Are there some build threads?
Im struggling to find anything on this.

Try m42club, they do loads of stuff so worth seeing what's on there. There's been a couple of super charger builds which may help with info regarding boost and issues that have arisen or what people have done with regards internalls etc which I expect is transferable.
