This is what I keep thinking of getting.. good efforts.. I remember once walking down the street in a built up area to find a friend under a gazebo amongst other parked cars doing a engine swap on his mrk 2 golf... I love seeing stuff like that.. just getting on with it..mrrodney wrote:well i just ordered a 3 x 6 meter gazebo of ebay , gonna keep it out the rain while i worl on it ,

stripped a doner car down for its complete running gear, engine , box subframe, struts and brakes etc.....

also bought some seats..

should have a complete rear end too in the next couple a days
also got clocks with the mpg gizmo...

next few days i should have a few more bits ready to start the engine change, also got a rear panel to cut up so i can redo the rear light area a bit better

finally got some progress , got car in the air to get under it (front bumper already bent and i have a spare)

old engine and box out....

new engine and box, ill clean it up once its running...

engine bolted in but i gotta wire in the loom plug and conect everything up...

once i got it all connected up ill pull the interior out and get the box loom and ecu in, then ill get the welding finished , new seats in then brakes and suspension on

engine is wired up ready to run but it isnt firing up so i gotta run through it and see whats wrong , i havent fitted the box loom and ecu so will go through the loom again once thats in
ive fitted the lowering springs too , i need a 51mm drivers side strut as mine is too rusty to use , so ive left the 318 shocks on till i get another 51mm leg

had a change of plan on the engine front , pulled the m20b25 back out and sold it then the same day i went and bought a 325td
, engine runs nice but the rest of the car is a donkey, so soon the new doner car strip down will start

part of me is saying break other part get it done lol , its just sitting on the drive blocked in by the doner car and a people carrier im breaking so cant get too it , once the breaker is gone i can get my arse in gear, the doner 325td engine is still in its shell waiting to be stripped, all ive done with that is installed a chip
if no1 asks for any major parts and i get the drive cleared then ill prob get some work done on it

Mate, just pull the engine out of the E36 and get the rest weighed in, nobody wants E36 bits
Don't break it after the work you have put in mate. You seem the type to see this through to the end with motivation, I reckon you just have January blues so hang in there
Bronzit chromie FTW

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

This is the spirit... As duke says. Get the engine out and get rid of the E36. Once that eye saw is out of the drive you'll have some fire in belly to get going again.Duke137 wrote:Mate, just pull the engine out of the E36 and get the rest weighed in, nobody wants E36 bits![]()

Although I've moved out of NW London, I'm still not far. I can come give you a hand pulling out that engine if you want.
I haven't loads of mechanical experience. But am technically minded, am itching to get my hands dirty (funds and space are holding me back on my turds currently) and do all the work on my own cars..
