I picked this car up after writing off my sensible car (first sensible car i ever bought and probably last) It was advertised on Gumtree with no pics, and a really poor write up but there were a few things that caught my attention with the write up... FULL beige leathers, M3 rear bumper, m3 spoiler and m3 mirrors.... So i thought i'd risk it and go have a look.

Got up there and it wasn't AMAZING but it wasn't terrible either... it was around the right money... guy wanted £700 and i knocked him down to £560... Which to me is good for a 318is coupe.

This is 5mins after buying the car :

Image

I noticed as soon as i bought the car the m3 mirrors were fake, it wasn't an m3 spoiler and i'm also not sure the rear bumper is even m3 :/
The pikey fake m3 mirrors took off pretty much straight away for a set of standards.

the engine bay is pretty clean... looks like someone has already been in there tidying and painting...

Image

Gave it a wash and took a few pics...

Image

Image
Image

I decided to tackle the suspension first and ordered a set of JOM coilovers off the net
Image
Image
Image

the backs are down most of the way but the fronts are at the top (helpers removed) this is due to my overall headache i have had with my purchase after my coilovers....
Image
BMW 16" steels banded to 11j and 10j... first thing was to get them blasted to clean them up....
Image

then paint them up yellow (it's not filler primer as most people think)
Image

here is where my head ache begins....

11j rears....
Image
Image
Image

the arches need SERIOUS modification to house them as they poke out about 3" :/

While i've been scratching my head over this i noticed my mate Griffo was selling a genuine AC Schnitzer front bumper complete with fogs and splitter
Image

so went to pick it up today and come home and fitted it right away....
Image

IMO it completly transforms the front end... i need to get cracking on my arches.. The car is off the road atm to have this work done and seeing as i also need to replace the bonnet and do a roof repair (car cancer) i'm considering respraying the whole car a similar colour to primer grey (i seem to like primer colours lol)

Well anyway thats as far as i am atm.... i will keep updating as often as possible :)

Well considering when i BOUGHT the car the tints were in, and the rear lights were on... They're all being changed. Sorry for not mentioning it in initial write up... The only rust on this is a bit on the rear arches which are having the arch repair panels putting on... Again i've not mentioned it in the initial write up as i haven't done it yet....

Cheap and nasty coilovers.... I'm sorry but if they're good enough for dips to run on his tourings then they're good enough for me.

Banded steels... I got them on the cheap and plan to have a different set of wheels on for the finished product... Maybe i can be amazin like you guys and buy alpina or hartge wheels and look EXACTLY the same as all the others. Or ve totally individual and get a set of BBS'

It's amazing just how many cunts are on this forum :/

Afraid it's not an m3 rear bumper, just an m3 look diffuser attached to the bottom of a standard one.

Have you tried a wheel on properly yet?

Take the spring out and jack the arm up, the wheel will tuck in and gain negative camber as the suspension compresses. They probably won't poke anywhere near as much as you think once they're the proper height.
cheers,

harry

Thanks for a decent reply harry... Appreciate it.

I'll have a go with what you suggested with the wheels.
Also i didn't think it was an m3 rear... I'm probably going to try and locate a full ACS kit.

Its easy enough to un "bruv" and for the money i paid for it with 12 months ticket and 10months tax... No other i.s coupe was coming close to that.

As for bruvved up... Haven't you got an "m" badge on your e30 grille?? Is it an m3?

Thats your opinion and infuess you're entitled to it. I think putting an M badge on something other than an M car is gay but whatever floats your boat

Ah the age old mtech badge debate you do realise mtech and an m car are two different things but both use the m logo?

The 318is has lots and lots of mtech goodness on it as standard hence the badge on the front, i take it you also know that lots of non m cars have the mtech badge on them from the factory

Mtech is a trim level it does not mean i thought i had a m3 if that was the case i would have put an m3 badge on not an mtech badge

I know, hence the m sport packages... But most will associate it with m3... I had an mtec wheel in my e30 but didn't feel the need for an m badge as 95% of people with them are twats

I'm intruiged though which e30s came out of factory with an m badge... Except m3s.

Come on guys, lets cut him some slack

He's sharing his project with us and we shouldn't slag him off for it.
Let's try to turn it into constructive criticism and not upset the bloke about it.
