Well as the title suggests, I have decided to hang up my E30 ownership for good. My E30 is parked in my parents garage back in West Wales and I am 200 miles away and have not turned a spanner on the car since last Christmas. In short, I am getting nothing from it.

The car is a 1987 325i Sport (pics dont show car in current condition or spec, just the last pics I took)....
Image
Image

with a full-on set of these...
17x8j BBS RC Also known as Style 5 Split Rims, wrapped in unused Goodyear Eagle F1's.
Image
It also has brand new E36 M3 front suspension, springs, brakes, hubs, E36 rear trailling arms and uprated discs, 3.25:1 LSD, PROPER Recaro seats, Rear dogging blind etc etc etc

I am finally selling up because I now have this...
An Audi RS4 Avant (B7). For those who dont know Audis, its a 4.2litre, 420bhp V8 supersaloon, electronically limited to 175mph.
Image

Now, dont get me wrong, I miss driving the E30 for the simplicity and the raw driving experience, but 0-62 in 4.8 seconds and actually doing 175mph in relative safety, with E30 fuel consumption takes some beatting, PLUS it can fit my bikes in the back and I dont have to fix it every week.

My question to everyone though, is where are the Old Skoolers?
The Simon13, The Jesus's, The Demlotcrew, The Theo's, The JonB.... Are you still out there? Or am I the last one to 'fold'?

Would be nice to hear from a few old faces.

Scott(RS4)325SE

P.S. My Sport (and the contents of my garage) are for sale if anyone wants to finish off my project for a very sensible price.

EDIT:
This is a copy/paste of the first post on page 3, for those just wanting the pictures...

Update - Here are some pics (187 of them to be exact) that are uploading to my Photobucket account at the moment.

Irritatingly, the pictures of the whole car are at the bottom, despite me selecting them first.

Enjoy!

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v295/ ... ?start=all

p.s. please remember that i havent washed it, and that many of the bits that are pictured will be tidied up shortly, like the dashboard for instance.

I am still knocking about Scotty boy. A mate of mine has one of those RS4s and it is indeed a fine machine. Is the sport still in bits mate ?

OLD SKOOLER!!!!! Yay! How ya doing Mark? I do still love that 5 of yours!
Sport is still in bits. The annoying thing is, that I have all the bits to finish it pretty much... and it has actually been back on the road since i started the whole project... but then i took it back off the road and started looking for split rims and m3 suspension, stupid engines and audio etc.
In addition, i probably have enough un-required spare parts to keep a team of students busy for 3 months listing them on ebay! I reckon i have 2.5k worth of spare parts, plus my car, plus the bits for my car.
I've already decided on the figure i want for "everything e30" in my garage too... which basically covers the split-rims, tyres and the paintwork. and all the rest of the stuff goes free because the car will need someone to finish it. It's a shame but i am just too busy to go home every weekend and get messy.

Finally had enough I see. We did tell you when you started this whole saga that it would be the end of you :snigger: shame to see you sell up though, however, my old man used to have one of those RS4's (well the saloon version at least) and it was an animal. Brilliant cars

Alas, all good things must come to an end. :( :D

Haha, far from the end of me, my good man!
It is a brilliant car. More a missile than a car at times - You really do feel like you are piloting the thing, rather than driving it! The mechanical grip still astounds me today, 9 months after buying it! I have to confess though, that the Continentals that were on it when I bought it are better in the wet than the P-Zeros that I replaced them with.. which is contrary to every bit of experience I have had with Pirelli/Conti to date.

My time with E30s has been a fond time. A fun time. A reasonably IN-expensive time. But i just dont have that time to spend anymore. Alas, you are quite right - All good things must come to an end.

Lovely looking E30 there, I know 2 people who'd bought RS4s & had Turbo failure, common problem apparantely, eye wateringly expensive, when they let go!

Foook me sideways with a rusty roofskin, its the barebacking Boyo !!

I'll swap a Raleigh Grifter twist grip and Sturmey Archer three speed rear hub for all that frag :D

PS A real man would have a C63 shooting brake, not some bruvved up VAG frag :)

Only the early rs4's were turbo'd, the b7 model is 4.2 litres of naturally aspirated naughtyness!

I'd be interested to know what you've got by way of a pile of e30 parts, car, bits bobs etc.

Any chance you can pm me with some details please?

Thanks

They were early ones, twin turbo I think?! both times the hoses would blow first, closely followed by the turbo itself, they were epic.

yeah 2.7 turbo, mental if you get the boost wound up on them.

I work for an audi main dealer as a workshop techy, we still get a couple of the old bi-turbo's in, proper mint ones. Its always good to see people looking after them.

Barry and I were talking about this yesterday. And I'm seriously thinking of going the same way. Not used the e30 this year and it did about 350 miles last year. Have I missed it? Not in the least if I'm truly honest.

Quite simply put, I'm all e30'd out. The scene is not what it used to be either.

Know just where you are coming from,Trev.

My cabbie has seen little use this year,I was telling myself that I was 'saving' the milage for our trip to Portugal end of Sept/begining of Oct,then bloody Brittany Ferries went on stike and cancelled our outbound crossing(Portsmouth/Santander),with no garantee of a return...train and Ryanair were little substitute for top-down motoring on empty roads.

But I doubt that anyone will want my Neon Green cabbie! :D

I've not had an E30 for some time now - must be 3-4 years. Don't miss them or the rust tbh. The Zone seems to be dying on its arse now, and I feel the need to post less and less. The E30 scene has certainly stagnated and I guess we're all moving on now.

That's what happens when you have a turbocharged European shooting brake like Scotty and myself. :D
