Hi all,

This weekend we attended the Javelin event at Elvington near York
http://javelintrackdays.co.uk

My first track day in the BM went well and all the hard work over the last few weeks has paid off.

I have made some simple mods, most have already been covered in this Forum, but I'll list them anyway.

Brakes, renewed all the disks, standard but used ferodo ds3000 front pads and ds2500 rears. Goodridge hoses and new fluid.
Susspension, Bilstien Sprintline kit, standard wheels and tyres.
OMP cage
Forza seats and 75mm harneses
LSD
and stripped out the interior.

The brakes are very good now, with plenty of feel. The only thing it needs now is a quick rack and some new bushes.

Cheers to you all,

Andy

Glad to hear it went well for you. What car is this in, 325, 318is?

Sounds like you've made some sensible mods like the brakes and the cage where as i have been stupid and gone with a better performing car and yet to upgrade the brakes 8O :?

Got any pictures or even better vids?

Forgot to say it's a 325se.

As for the brakes, my thoughts, apart from safety, was to use standard discs as these are cheap, less than Ԛ£60 for all 4, but the pads are a different matter at Ԛ£140 for the front and rears.

The Bilstiens, well yes, my mate was following in his Sierra Cosworth and said it was very stable. They are also good value at Ԛ£300 if you shop around.
My only experience of trackdays has been in 7 style cars, with both car, (Pinto and Zetec) and bike, (fireblades) engines. I am very happy with the E30 after the kit cars, and do not regret the move apart from the lack of a 2.5 quick rack.

Cheers, Andy

glad you had a good time fella

so quick rack and bushes is your next step , reckon i can agree on that m8.
get the bushes that are proper racey ones (can't remember the material)
e36 rack supposed to be the way as well.
one easy thing as well for the brakes is ducting for the back. for the front just take out the fogs. today is cool so no probs but 80' in July and you'll be smoking.
good luck
Don't you wish there were a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence? There's one marked 'Brightness', but it doesn't work.

Hi Striker,
It sounds like you've been out in something very similar to how I'm preping my 1988 white 325i so it's great news to hear it all went well
The E36 rack is one to get plus I thought I had got a LSD but it turned out not to be :-x It would be good to see how you get on with the other work and I'm well chuffed you've rated the Bilstien sprintline kit as that's what I've put on mine.

Some pics would be great if you've got any...

Any other feedback from your mods most welcome:D
Cheers

Stock brake discs are the best way to go. Cheap and they do the job. no need for anything else. The slotted and drilled ones are actually probably weaker in most instances.

And for the bushings, get some urethane ones. Over here across the pond, Treehouse racing makes a nice set of Control Arm Bushing replacements. As for the others (rear subframe, trailing arms), most people go with ireland engineering or powerflex.
