You need the loom- its one that plugs into the existing windscreen wash loom near the bottle and into the sidelignt/headlingt loom
It essentially gets fitted across the front of the car from left to right looking at the front
I may have a spare somewhere...

Thanks. I assume that the colum stalk is diferent but fits into the existing loom? The big relay - does that go into the fuse box, or elsewhere?bigwinn wrote:You need the loom- its one that plugs into the existing windscreen wash loom near the bottle and into the sidelignt/headlingt loom

To answer the OP's question more accurately, the replacement wiper control module and the column stalk, along with one of the washer pumps and the pipework to the bonnet, is all part of the intensive wash part of the package, and is nothing to do with the headlamp wash/wipe.
They came as a combined package on E30s, but there's no interaction between them.

Column stalk is different, has 'S' on it and will push in to activate the intensive wash wipe cycle on the screen and headlampsstew72 wrote:Thanks. You can see the two motors on the front of the bottles, the other is hidden round the back

Thanks Stu - I would seem I have a motor missing (from the smaller reservoir) - no wonder it wasn't working!! Is it the same motor on both?

I'll post some pics of what I've got, I'd love advice on what I need. At the moment the most obvious thing missing is the second pump motor. Posting from phone at mo, so need to fire up the lappy to get pics on photobucket.
Many thanks!

Hi Guys, sorry for the slight hijack of this thread, but I suppose it is all relevant...
Here are some pics of what I've got. Based on what Stu has advised, it would seem that the smaller reservoir pumps is missing. However, just to give you some more detail, my car was purchased with the HLWW system, but the wiper motors never worked.
When I looked at making things work again, I noticed that one of the hoses was there (presumably for the HL's) but had been closed off, by inserting a big screw into the hose. When I took this out, water dripped out, and someone suggested the pump motor required replacing. (you can see the new black hose connected to the only piece of old mesh type hose I had available to me, in the first pic below).
I have replaced the pump you can see, and also added the missing bits of hose so that both spray nozzels in the front grilles now (should) receive a water supply.
What is missing, please?
This pic shows the two reservoirs with only one pump motor.

This one shows the connector that is available if there is a power feed required - if so, I guess this fits the second pump? This lead is quite short, so I suspect, I may need to move the existing pump to the small reservoir and fit this to a new one sitting closer to it?

These two leads are coming into the reservoir area from in front of the radiator area - don't know what they are for.

Final pic shows a controller unit, which should hang off the second reservoir..?

All advice gratefully appreciated, and I hope this helps the original poster.
Many thanks guys!

Control unit sits between resevoirs as per bigwinn's pic - it should just clip in
Pump in smaller resevoir needs to connect into water line to washer sprays via tee piece
It may be the picture but does your smaller resevoir have a hole in it at the bottom of the recess coz I cant see one

Hmm that's true. Where does the pump get its water from?

the two leads coming into the reservoir area, I think, are the ones that clip into the lighting loom- as the HLWW only works when the lights are on...
The box hanging down does clip in, or if like mine it was busted araldite is your friend
As for the hole in the smaller reservoir, now thats weird, it should have a hole in the base for the motor to sit in...
I didnt rig mine up correctly. I presumed, incorrectly that the smaller bottle was for the HLWW and the bigger bottle x2 motors provided the windscreen system. I'll stand corrected but I believe its HLWW and screen from the big bottle with non return valves and the smaller bottle has very concentrated stuff for the screen when the S button is activated on the stalk.
Make sense?

Hi Stu, I've looked at the smaller reservoir. There is no physical link between it and the larger one. It's strange that there is no hole to allow its contents out... Understood everything else, so Ill look for the connection to the lamps for the two leads.
Thank you!
Thank you!

I'm a bit confused now. Can the headlamp wahers/wipers be fitted without the intensive system? I'm told the wiring that is on the car I'm looking to get parts from is incorporated in the loom and not really easy to remove. Would this be right?

they can be fitted but will only work (AFAIK) with the whole kit in situ
Mr Moooore may be able to advise of a wiring mod to make them work independent?

There's no connection between the intensive wash system and the headlamp wash/wipe system at all, other than to get a main washer reservoir with a place to fit a second pump for the headlamp washers, you need to fit the one with the intensive wash tank as well, and, as I've said above, they share the same wiring loom.stew72 wrote:I'm a bit confused now. The headlamp wash/wipe is completely autonomous within the headlamp wiper motors themselves, once they have been provided with a short 12 volts pulse (provided by the control module mounted between the washer bottles) to start them off.
Wiring loom under the bonnet is completely separate, and easily removed.
