Just about to remove a tired and rusting, non-racing, short shift system. It's not OE and there are no manufacturer markings. What should I replace it with? The one at the link below looks okay. Has anyone else bought one of these or can recommend another known, quality make? Cost is a factor but I want reliability. Ad states it's for an M3 but in the text says that it's for any E30. The seller 'C3BMW' possibly well known to establishment guys on here. Thoughts?

Well there's the B & M sport short shifter kit which I've got & cost me £100+ 6yr's ago or there is also the Z3 kit which I'm sure you'll find in the wiki.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

Thanks. Wiki article is comprehensive and I expect the Z3 1.9 lever will give me all the short shift action I need.

Coupled with new linkage bushes the z3 stick feels nice and tight, I would highly recommended it
If it ain't broke..

Depending how short you want it, z3 1.9 is probably best for road use, i have the z3 2.8 which is about 40% less shift, im used to it but it can be tight in cold weather

I did the 1.9 to mine, as well as the bush replacements. It went from stirring soup to a soft smooth "snick", and is great for city driving.
