rear wheels locks up!

Hi,
it seems my rear wheels like to lockup when down shifting? whats causing this? thanks

Are you changing gear to early? This could result in your problem as bmw push things rather than pull them. But you would have to be changing down gear much much much to early for the rear wheels to lock not to mention the damage you are causing the drive train and engine.

iirc when downchanging, if you don't match engine revs, the crank and flywheel will be spinning slower than the clutch plate when you re-engage the clutch. The sudden engine braking that results by inertia of the drivetrain having to spin up the mass of the flywheel etc can cause problems. If you match engine speed by using the heel and toe technique to blip the throttle before re-engaging the clutch, it helps a lot.
