I'll see If i can dig out some photos Andrew. They were engineered pretty much from scratch using the BMW motorsport adapters Kiko kindly lent to me as a basis for design. A friend of a friend is a semi retired engineer who likes solving problems and he put a lot of work into making them safe. The design rationale was to make a centre lock adapter that was finished to a road wheel finish. Kind of like what Porsche do to the GT3 RS with their centrelock kit. There are three parts to the adapter which all lock together to form a pretty rigid structure with a mix of high grade steel and aluminium.
I knew I recognised the car, it looks pretty sweet in the flesh - your engine bay was immaculate! I got a pic of you first thing in the morning that I still haven't edited yet. I'll do it in a mo and post it up tonight

I actually never did the test between standard backplate and z3m backplate - I got impatient and just fitted the z3m one.
Don't think there's a problem with my sensor though;

What temps are you seeing in your diff Andrew?

Does the sender protrude past the filler bung?
I'm seeing around the 80°C in my final drive with 2l of oil.

Very nice, not sure how I feel about the wheels, from a visual point of view they are out of balance, because of their diameter and convex weave shape.
Just my view of course.

holy moly. that is THE nicest looking m3 i have ever seen!
I just dribbled... lots!
I offer you 10 grand and a testicle, either, you can choose.
Truly amazing, and if i'm not mistaken your car is used on the Meguiers adverts in performance bmw magazine?

Yes- the probe is probably 20mm inside the diff.Demlotcrew wrote:Does the sender protrude past the filler bung?

My diff temps would get up to around 130°C - perhaps your sensor isn't in far enough?

At a time When everyone is going for RS's dish poke and stretch its refreshing to see a tuck and wheels sit as they should do. If it was me I'd be going for a slightly more square side wall and more tuck ala DTM cars but this is difficult with what is a road cars. I'm not 100% sure on the convex centres but being genuine BBS Motorsport centre locks I'd happily live with them
Gold centres would work a treat and I'm sure Andrew would like that
This for me is one of the best street moddified e30's in Europe. It's a 'complete' car with serious wheels good suspension and brakes, quality paint ( with Greg responsible its going to be spot on) and sexy interior

Just remembering something I was told while at college by a vehicle inspector bloke with regards to the SVA test (back when it was the SVA) - the vehicle in question failed the SVA test, one of the failures was the centre lock wheels.

The sensor is in the drain hole, protrudes past the bung.

Temps conformed with laser thermometer.

Come on, an e30 m3 was never meant to have "dish".
in all fairness I have been looking at pulling it back a little but the sharp, angular lines of the car work really well with a non-dished 18" wheel. Im a little bored of seeing dished 17's on M3's and wanted to try something completely different. In my opinion it looks 10 times better than it ever did on the RS's although I have to admit it doesn't drive as nice due to the slimmer profile tyre choice and camber plates.
Thanks cook for the pics- top quality! Any chance you could send me the first one? You can keep the testicle tomislav lol! This is going to stay in the garage.
it was the car in the Meguiars ads (on RS's)
And thanks everyone for the positive comments, really means a lot

Any time warren.
The RS's made it look classy, but the centre locks give it a much harder look which is what the M3 ( a race car first and foremost ) is about.
Every time i see a nice e30 M3 makes me want to get my finger out and put my bastard back together

It really is a nice look but yet its just another e30 M3 on RS'sDemlotcrew wrote:Car looks perfect in this photo![]()
Despite the opinions that an RS is a timeless look, things have moved on for me. You can create a harder looking motorsport themed road car on an RS. It's a softer looking wheel even with dish and in my opinion an LM is just too new looking for an e30. Gold centres would also be trying too hard.
Kos, you should never sell that M3. Keep it and rebuild it, think of it as a future investment. It looked great from the old pictures. Its quite a daunting prospect in terms of the old M tax parts prices but the reward is a pretty rare car that many people appreciate despite their allegiances (sp?) to other marques.

Its quite a statement to say the BBS LM's look too new on an E30 when the centre locks you are sporting dont look a million miles different to LM's, I actually find LM's to be far more fitting with the solid defined angles of the E30 M3.fourmotion wrote:It really is a nice look but yet its just another e30 M3 on RS'sDemlotcrew wrote:Car looks perfect in this photo![]()
and LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THOSE TYRES!!!!
