I don't think even Brian could tell you what was going on there, unless he had his head in the boot and an AVO meter...

I don't know how you can tell that from the boot...

The switchable autobox hides it's ECU in the boot,I believe. :D

So if it used to be a switchable auto, that means loads of 'factory' wires that no longer go anywhere.
Does the check control panel expect to receive data from the no-longer fitted ECU?

It could be from the switchable auto ECU. I'll pop out later and take a few pics of how my slush box cabby looks for reference and post them up.

It looks nothing like it, the ECU has a large multi pin socket, a little like the Engine ECU. There is a another small relay box on Sport Auto cars, cant remember what the connector is like.

It wont be a switchable auto, but it does look like the standard auto box control unit connector, strange that there are plugs similar to headlamp/level sender type though.

Is the clutch reservoir on its original bracket?

Its Defiantly a manual, according to log book and car insurance quotes.

Its a shame as the car has alot of that will do regards trim clips etc and i knew it would stem on from there to other bits that could of been messed with.

Also under the rear seat i have two blue and white wires that have been cut from the loom and attached to another blue and white set of wires on another loom if that makes sence

Have a look

:?

Image

Also between the rear two lights i have some 3 core type 240v cable connecting the two together

All E30s are turds unless you get a low miler 1 owner turd :D

this turd is nice and shiney and will serve me right over the winter, and its had new inner arches and all welding done to a decent standard.

Hi all, ive just bought said turd , any ideas on the loom and how to fix it ? .I was also wondering wtf all this wiring is.None of that lot was in my sport. Also check control isn't working.
Starting think it was a bad idea returning to e30s :(

The loom is 100% from a touring. That in itself is not the end of the world as everything should work, just you will have a few 'spares'

The worrying thing is that looking at the mess , it was undoubtably fitted by an Italian plasterer and his gashness will no doubt cause lots of aggro and cost plenty of time and money over the coming months :(

Its one complete chassis loom. You would need to find one to the same year of the car and the same options as there are additional option looms that will be wrapped in to the main chassis loom.

Its an illness buster, we cannot help surrounding ourself with frag ! :)

The extra touring bits, if tidied up, should not cause an issue, just be sure to bridge the rear washer bottle sensor plug and tidy the rest up and you should be OK. As Andrew says it is all part of the car loom and replacing that is an epically sad foookfest :(

What was the sh1tbox originally ? I thought it was a 320 ? makes you wonder why they 'changed' the loom. Is the check control loom run up the A post and present ?

Alas the previous victims before Alex who started the 'conversion' were council drift types so even with all of Mick and Alexs toils there are bound to be plenty more nasties to keep you amused :(

Yeah it was originally a 320. I'll pull it to bits this weekend see what's in there. Which plug is the wash sensor ? That'll explain why the check panel says fluid level low even though its full.it must mean the rear one. That s when it works mind. Only seems to work with the ignition on 1 .

Anyone know if the rear bottle has a level sensor on the touring and if it does what colour and how many pins is it ?
I think that this car originally may not of had the check control system fitted and thats why it sort of works and also why the trim panel which houses the check panel has a hole for the sunroof switch on a non sunroof car and would explain why its got a grafted in touring loom to add the check system.

Al 320s had check control. What does it say on the V5 ?

The rear washer bottle level switch plug is the black two pin one, same as used on the front sensor and the coolant reservoir sensor. I did see the plug in a picture earlier in the thread.

A jumper wire across the two pins should do the trick or in keeping with the rest of the turd, a scotchlock across the two wires ! :(

Try another check panel. I have had them with dead bulbs before.

I have tried another one . When you hold the button all the leds light. I've noticed it doesn't illuminate when you put the lights on.
