I have put a new one in my M20 facelift but the belt is too loose and comes of if I start the engine, the arm seems to be fully extended. What mistake have I made?

Wrong belt, wrong pulley, or wrong alternator.
Belt should be 965mm.

Nightmare, the pulley etc looked identical but they must be different, the belt is 965. Balls, maybe I can bodge an extention to the arm?

What state are the alternator bushes in?

I had the belt on wrong, there's what looks like two wheels it could possibly go on. Knew it would be a silly mistake, got desperate as the day went on so posted here. Took it for a spin, all fixed. Thanks as usual for help though guys.
