Hello all, I'm off tomorrow to look at a 325i sport, now I've done a bit of research and notice that quite a few buyers guides say that the sport was introduced in 1989, but the car I'm off to look at is a 1987, but he's confirmed that the log book says its a sport.

Can any one clarify this for me please? Or does it seem a bit fishy?? Cheers

If your lucky it'll be a tech1 sport, they have metal bumpers a flat boot spoiler and higher wheel arches than the later models, a google pic will give you a idea of the differences

If its an '87 car it will be an M Tech 1 Sport which is based on the pre-facelift metal bumper shell.

Sport on the logbook means nothing - the only way to tell for sure if its genuine is to give your local dealer the VIN number and see what the original build data says.

LSD, Bodykit, Sport seats, are all part of the standard sport spec - the most difficult bit to retrofit is the black headlining so if it has this fitted ( not a dodgy painted one ) then it stands a better than average chance of being a genuine car.

Rust is the main thing to worry about.

Good luck 8)

Thanks very much for ironing that out, and for the helpful hints.

It needs a bit of work but I'll check most things out :)
