i know this sounds like an unusual request but a friend of mine has a fibreglass shop and believes he can fabricate a copy if we had an orignal one to take a mould from.
Obviously i will make it worth ur while and u never know it might make a cheap alternative for the rest of us out there that can't bring there self to pay £800+ for one.
Im in the manchester area thanks

Of course not!

What you need to do is invest the the capital, buy a hardtop, do whatever you need to do, then sell it for as much as you can. Your loss from what you buy, to what you sell, is your development costs. All the damage would be down to you.

Theres a frame under that fibreglass shell, that would need to be fabricated too.
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!

Your best biting the bullet chap. The fiberglass route could be a shambles!

Also trying to get a zoner lend you an expensive bit of kit is unlikely!

I was thinking of making a mess all over it and then cracking it before returning back to the owner. That's cool right?

£800 isn't so much that if your mate had a serious plan to do this, you couldn't rustle it up between you.

I'd lend you one, but I would require an £800 deposit plus shipping costs and a look at your girlfriend's tits. :D

HAHA,

i bought my vinyl hardtop from a zoner called bally, he charged me £550 and threw in a hardtop stand and indoor dust cover. Ive seen many hardtops go for around the 5-600 mark, if you want to venture into this fibre-ass hardtop shyte and you haven't got enough to buy your own then your pretty much fooked.

Sorry but i have to agree with z31, snakebrain and suchy, you have come into the den and pitched this rubbish idea of creating a fibreglass hardtop and yet you have not invested a penny into the business. I am not prepared to sacrifice my hardtop and also dont see a future in the product. So for that reason IM OUT..

well thanks guys but in response to u all iv seen this guy turn out complete kit cars, pods for camper vans, cozzi body panels for over 20 years!! i would even go as far to say he could make a carbon copy of ur mr's tits and post them to u don't worry we already have the mould!
:P
seriously though take this piss if u like but im not some little goon with no idea what im talking about the cost of fabricating the roof would be low as the friend is my brother in law who already makes hard tops for mx5's and old mg's so he's not inexperienced in the game, we will use the frame from a soft top roof that i have already purchased with the fixings at the back altered slightly and using the original fasterners at the front, even thought of using more of the lines of the e30 coupe at the back,

I will buy one and i have been looking but i still want to have ago just wanted to start sooner rather than later, maybe i should of titled the thread better as i could actualy take a mould from a roof where eva it's stored and it wouldn't get damaged or scratched as it would be covered before the mould was taken.

i have the minerals have u!!

that's good news ! I'm fairly sure the op wasn't intending on using a rear window in his fibregash topped turd,

no doubt he's still working on the ratchet strap/bungee style fixings I'm sure he will be delighted :D

This is just forum banter Voodoo, don't be so thin-skinned. If you come online and ask to borrow one of the most sought-after and valuable E30 accessories without offering anything in turn, you're going to take some ribbing for it.

Not as much as you will for having BK Reps and eyebrows on your cabriolet though winkeye

. If u read my original thread it did say I would make it worth ur while it was just not visable as I used text speak. And every body without a hard top would benefit if it worked and we could supply these roofs

Best advise is to not ask strangers for £500+ worth of kit to borrow. Get the capital behind you and then start your venture... Expect fack all for free in this life and you wint have people on the internet taking the pish :thumb:
