Whilst removing the oil filter housing on my M52 E30 one of the bolts has sheared. About 3-4mm is standing proud of the aluminium block. I've tried mole grips to no avail, it's also in a slightly awkward place, so getting Stillsons or heat (very close to an open oil way) looks difficult/impossible.
I don't have a welder, so cannot weld a nut on to the sheared stud.

All suggestions/advice welcome, thanks.

You have a problem!

I think(dangerous!)that I would try my blow torch on the damaged stud and surrounding area.
My reasoning would be that I could not make it any more difficult than it is already.

And the stud might, just, agree and wind out.... :D

It sheared whilst I was removing it. I've heard that these extractors are useless and often shear off as well! I'm going to try some heat and go from there.
