Hi can anyone help me please, I have what I can only describe as a seal type thing on my exhaust manifold. There are 2 of them and they really need replacing. They look like they are heat protection for the leads. If anyone can make head nor tail of what I'm talking about and where I could get some it would be a great help. M20 b20 engine. Any help would be great please!

sounds like the exhaust manifold heat shields.

if so you can get them from ECP (euro car parts) pretty cheap.
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

They are the heat shields, but unfortunately they are part of the exhaust manifold gaskets.
This means, that to replace them, the exhaust manifold has to come off, leading, most probably, to hours of fun when an exhaust stud or two shears off.
I've never known any damage to occur to OE leads and plug caps if the heatshields are removed completely. On later M40 engines, the shields were deleted, and the leads themselves fitted with hard plastic beads.
