hi folks
been a member for a while but I'm really more into E28's
think I'm geting a 320 with an eta lump and M20B20 head
my 535 has to go as I do too many miles and the petrol is killing me
had a few questions if anyone can help...

do E30's come under classic ins like an E28?
will a E28 large case diff fit?
or E28 hubs?
prob be a bit more as it seems fairly stock apart from the engine
I guess E30 slippers are not cheap??

1 . E30's are under classic
2. Im sure e28 large case does Not fit
3. Hubs i doubt but not 100%
4 no lsd are not cheap lol

My question to you is whats your reason for a 2l ? Conveniently close by and fair priced ? Or because of fuel ? As theres not much difference i any compared to the m20b25

BMW made three diff sizes current to E28 and E30.

Small
Medium
Large

Small and medium were fitted to E30,medium and large were fitted to E28.

So medium case E28 diffs will fit E30,but,(there's always a 'but'!)ex E28 diffs will need E30 type output flanges and possibly E30 type backplates.

Nothing to really worry a dedicated guy with a decent toolkit.

Insurance companies are a law unto themselves, some will consider any car over ten years young as a 'classic',others will suggest that a 'classic' car is a second car.
Youth is wasted on the young.
