Hello all

Since i have bought my 325i auto, i have noticed water on front passenger side carpet.
It is defo coming from under the dash (right under/behind the glove box) squirting out sometimes when i turn the heating on.

The heating was not working before (no hot air) but got it fixed and thought that would fix the water problem but is still occuring.

Any suggestions please? or know anyone that can sort it permanently?

regards

if it's SQUIRTING, then it'll be the pipes coming through the bulkhead that feed the heater matrix. They often crack here and lead to leaks.

but you should notice a corresponding drop in coolant.

But you need to make sure it's not also another water leak. Rust behind the glovebox is VERY common, coming from either rust around the wiring loom grommet, or bulkhead rust under the scuttle. Only test is to slowly pour a litre of water into the plastic grille on the scuttle, and see if you get a corresponding drip in the footwell.

Thanks mate,

just had the matrix replaced but the guy realised that was not the problem but somehow fixed the heater so i get hot air and then i had a problem with overheating but a viscous coupling sorted that and now the car stays at quater point.
I would have thought it would have been solved after taking the whole dash board out but i shall do these checks, thanks.

The coolant light does come on quite often then i think it should do, i refill the bottle everytime it comes on.

much appreciated.
