Just looking up towing services.. and thought I'd try on here too as I'd rather put the money to a fellow zoner..
I need to get my car towed from Camden to Bushey in Hertfordshire (roughly 13miles).
Is there anyone here that might be able to help out.. failing that any recommendations..

Me and my brother brought a solid towing bar off the bay and towed a tourer from kidderminster to warrington using mostly b roads without any probs.Took a while but had a laugh doing it

I was thinking about doing that. Using a rope is just nasty. I've found a few people on gumtree, might see how much it compares to buying a solid tow bar.
Cheers bimanut..

Should cost about 40-50 to get someone to do that on a flat bed truck. Is the car being towed taxed and insured? If not I think that renders a tow bar illegal... The boys in blue will tell you anyway

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

Only way I think you can tow a car legally without tax, MOT and insurance is via an A-Frame with a light board fitted with no one in it to steer or brake the towed car. As soon as whatever is being tower needs someone in it to control it it needs to be fully road legal.

Had a quick look on eBay. A solid tow bar is around £15.
The cars taxed and MOT'd. The clutch slave has gone or there is a leak somewhere (no mess in the footwell) as the reservoir is empty. It's parked on a hill on a cambered road, so just want get it 13 odd miles up the road where I can work on it.
I think a tow bar might be a good option.

It's possible to drive a car without a clutch. I've done it a few times.

Yeah I did too when it went. But gave up, its a f**king pain in stop start traffic. Plus it can't be good for the gear box??

Your welcome G,think that was how much the bar we brought cost.
It is illegal to tow a car without tax & mot,i think you can only use a dolly to be legall.
Hence why we used country B roads
Remember to take a spare towing eye cuz we bent one to bits

I've changed a clutch slave at the side of the road before, well sort of it was the road outside my house but same thing really! Didn't take long, just bring a friend to bleed it
I think there is a couple of zoners in both hertfordshire and camden area that would have a trailer to help, if not 13 miles with a tow rope isn't so bad!

Might be cheaper/easier to pay a local mechanic to do it... mine was looked after by a guy in Kentish town before I bought it. PM me if you want his number.

The answer is to drive it very late at night/very early in the morning when there's very little traffic about.

if you use a rigid bar and the tow cars hook is on the other side then remove the e30 front bumper and swap the tow eye bumper bracket to the other side by flipping it 180 degrees .

Cheers speedtouch, suedenim and magpie for the advice. I'll look up the website, check the tow eye and go at night
