Think someone said it's more than new shocks, might have been Dan. Also well known for awful customer service, although they're only down the road from Jim.

I dont really want to be spending much cash on this car in all honesty. Ill make it look nice but dont want to part with money

Just use the front struts from the red turd if you can't find the ones set aside for the chromie, not that that'll even need them

Slowly getting there with this.
3 out of 4 springs are now on
Passenger rear still to do which I will get done tomorrow now
Then i'll get the driver rear off again and just give it a quik clean up for now as didnt bother when I changed the spring and now wanna underseal it all.
Anyway, got a few pictures.
Front Strut

The Shocks are completely shaaagged so the ones from the 4 door 325 chromie have gone on it. Not sure what make they are as I just used the whole strut towers.
I do need to replace both Tie rod ends as the ball joints have splits in them
I've got some replacement ones but will do it when im over my old mans or something so im more local to somewhere to track it up
Anyway, cleaned the front arches out, found some scabs. Poked some holes through. Had the kit off the other side too which has the same kinda welds, but looking at it, I would say its close to rare compared to the other Sport I seen on here a moment ago
Cleaned, Rust 'treated', under sealed and calipers painted up, springs and shocks switched

Sill

Not sure if I already added the driver side in previously?
This is how its sitting, keeping in mind I still need to do the rear passenger side

The suspension on the front moves now too
Tomorrow i'll get the last spring in then have a little drive and see how it feels.
Had a look at the 4 Door chromie engine again today, and got it going
And it runs like a fewking dream
So if I cant get the Sport engine running correctly, it shall be switched, although I do suspect the Sport engine should be sortable too... Need to check the exhaust over as it sounds like its leaking a bit so wanna check that over.
Gonna bring the interior in with me tomorrow too and give it a clean up and then use some 'Leather forever' black dye stuff on it to get it looks sharper

Anyway, got a few pictures.

I'm gonna keep it for a while or so, but i'm unsure if I want it as a long term keeper. I'm just not a fan of the Tech 2

To be honest though, the less bruv'd it gets, without all the smoked lights and the drop, its starting to grow on me

@Kedge - I hope your still keeping an eye out for me?

Springs done
Rear Passenger before

After
Exhaust will be cleaned properly at some point soon too, gave it a quick clean, but not fully.

Got to work on removing those Smoked lights too for the originals, unfortunately the driver side high beam is clouded, tried to wash it out, no good, so gonna get new high beams for both side I think. Standard grills back on too and wiper motors back in place. Need to rob the chromies wiper arms and get some rings too

Rear end now

Pulled it out and had a little drive up and down the drive way and it feel 100% better
Engine still runs like shiiit though
Which will be one of the next jobs

Im currently out there just tinkering with that as well pulling pbits off the breaker, and sorting through my unit...
Inner sills on the driver side under the carpet are rusty

Driver seat is out and come in later for some treatment.
Also just playing in the engine bay, the carpet was damp underneath on the driver side, wher all the rust is, I expect water is getting in through the rusty holes, but checked the engine bay, elephant trunk was caked so cleaned up. Now just working through the engine... Not clutch fluid at all

Nice work Jim
I think one either loves or hates a Tech II, but if it can be sorted it should return you a profit when you sell. Or you'll love it and keep it for a while

Got some pictures of the scabs under the carpet

Got a few more on photobucket but nothing that great.
Had a look at the scuttle areas too, driver side is set down on the engine bay lip, the passenger side had some news paper clagged on the back of it
Bodge baaarstards, the amount of time it takes to bodge, why not just spend an extra bit of time and just fix the issue?
Also looked at the engine too, first thing I spotted was it had no clutch fluid and was bone dry... Same as the coolant
God knows how long its been rocking around like that for
I suspected the engine bay is an air leak and not it knocking like Luke suggested. I removed the oil cap when running and the revs didnt drop, it just continued to run like shiiit. Checked it over for air leaks but no joy, although reading the wiki, it says there is a rubber nipple on the base of the throttle? Gonna remove the throttle tomorrow and check if I get time
Got the driver seat in too and just finished it
Start ( I tried it on the bottom corner of the upper bolster the other day just to test

Cleaned and used the leather blacking stuff

Buffed

Conditions and finished

Thought I added that picture...

Cleaned it with warm soapy water first. Then the Liquid Leather cleaner. Then used the colour restorer which is called 'Leather Forever'. Then used the Liquid Leather conditioner on it
Smells like new leather now too in my house so should be great when fitted back in and should get rid of that fuel smell

The more you say about the engine and after hearing it myself and also knowing the previous owner broke a few sumps I think it's about dead. It's not like it's had an easy life listening to the two previous owners comments and the fact we know it's been used for diffin!
Floor looks at tad ropey, and newspaper repairs in the bulkhead are a worry and more reason why not to go spending much on this turd.
Good effort with the leatherzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That floor looks bad, that car is definately on borrowed time. Admire your efforts though mate, how easy does having a donor car sat next to it to rob all the bits from, that is one thing that e30topless said to me that is 100% true.
Agree with Dave, fix it up and get it served to an unsuspecting type OR strip it and stick all the bits on your chromie (minus kit and fooked engine) and stop noncing about with a 320i Auto

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

The floor isnt as bad as it looks in that picture... In that spot
I wire brushed it all up and it was just scabs caused from untreated metal that had been patched over... The bit to the side of it on the right is where there is nothing there
At the minute, im gonna tidy it up, drive it around until its mot is due and see what happens then. I wont be wasting money on things that will be just for this car, but I can spend money on parts that will be switched at a later date to something more chrome
Like the seats... Cleaned them up, get a new bolster on the passenger and then when its time to come to put the sport out of its misery, they'll go onto a chromie waiting for the parts
Its very doubtful my chromie will ever see the light of day again under that cover, but until I find a chromie, I just havent got the heart to anouce it in front of the car
I am moving into a brick built barn/unit though in the next few weeks, which i'll update as it goes. Which has room for new chromie to appear in and slowly get fixed up while I use the sport. Also has electric in there, concrete floors, has an upstairs too and a yard. All 20 metres from my house
As opposed to 30 metres in the current unit.
I'll be aquiring a welder too to try my hand at that

Gliptone Liquid Leather, wouldnt have got it from this seller but this is the cheapest I can find on Ebay right now... Basically a cleaner and conditioner which make it smell bloody great
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gliptone-Liqu ... 1c27f232d5
Then the Leather Forever was recommended by essexgirlracer a few years back at Santa Pod
http://www.leather-forever.net/
It doesnt do anything for the cracks in your leathers, just makes the colours match. Just a standard black I used, nothing specific about the shade for BMW... They do a few colours too £14.99 a tub.

seat work is excellent jim
the car could still be worth saving, if you can persist and get it all nice and uptogether slowly, its could be a 4 grand car, hows the external paint look in the flesh when having a good close look ? does it look quite battered or look quite decent ? looks ok in the pics
you could give the floor a good rub down in any surface areas, get some fertan bruvvva on it, then coat with hammerite smooth
a real good engine service, maybe do an oil change with cheap oil.... clock up a couple of hundred miles and change it again
be nice to see it saved if possible

As i'm a cooont
I just enjoy doing threads on them and cleaning things up. This thread will end with a rotten Sport shell in the pictures

To make this a 4k car it'll need way more than that amount spending on it, especially with it's well know colourful history and known current condition. Bit of a pointless exercise when Jim has his heart set an a chromie and makes a living from fragging these turds.polsta wrote:the car could still be worth saving, if you can persist and get it all nice and uptogether slowly, its could be a 4 grand car,
