hi guys
my E30 ownership is once again having to take a back seat - this time due to economics. my daily commute has gone from zero to over 200 miles a week and i can't justify using the 325i as a daily.. and i can't afford to keep 2 cars at the moment so it has to go.. a sad day but i will revisit an E30 convertible in the future at some point!
so the car will be emptied and cleaned tomorrow and i'll be posting some pictures (if the weather allows) and a full description then - keep a watch out, it will be a bargain.
(FYI it's a laser blue 4 door 325i auto on an H plate with MOT)
the zone will be getting a week's advance selling and then it will be put up on eBay / Pistonheads etc for a few quid more.
it's already been replaced with a turbo diesel focus and i'm loving the lack of fuel being used!
until tomorrow then... )
rich.
(PS i'm based 5 miles north of Newmarket)

no issue, but i'd rather pay less than 1/2 the price to commute than with the E30.clipper wrote:! I use my chromie 325 to commute over 200 miles / week.... whats the issue ?

fancied a quiet life on the fens then? I miss the place really, schooled in mildenhall and did a lot of drinking in Newmarket.

As a percentage of national average salaries I pay more in real terms for unleaded 95 than you do, but that's not really what I was getting at.TPS wrote:You probably pay a lot less for fuel?clipper wrote:! I use my chromie 325 to commute over 200 miles / week.... whats the issue ?
I just wouldn't get rid of my E30 just to cut my fuel bill by 30 - 40%.

if you're referring to me - comparing the E30 to my new car i now save 50% on road tax, i save 20% yearly on insurance and have cut my fuel bill monthly by 75%..clipper wrote:As a percentage of national average salaries I pay more in real terms for unleaded 95 than you do, but that's not really what I was getting at.TPS wrote:You probably pay a lot less for fuel?clipper wrote:! i have effectively given myself a gross £5k+ payrise which i'd rather have in my pocket than pay out unneccessarily on transport.

TPS was referring to the fact that I live in Spain so I was actually replying to him and people in the UK in general.
The tax difference is huge compared to what I would save by changing to a more economical car so you deffinately win more on that argument than on the fuel.
But what car have you bought that's saving you 75% on fuel ?
I'm getting about 30 mpg on my commute so to reduce my fuel bill by 75% I'd have to find a car that does 120mpg !
