m52 radiator fan...

help ive just fitted the m52 and i had to take the viscus fan off because it didnt fit now im thinking what could i do? , if anyone can help would be ideal , or if theres any pictures of what you have done, thanks:)

Fit an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator. The electric fan fitted as standard to post E30 models with aircon does the job perfectly.

i used an e34 aircon fan first of all but then i changed to a 16' electric fan i bought off ebay for 35 quid.. its been on the car now for 2.5 years and is still working perfectly.
16' is the biggest fan you can fit in the gap in the front of an e30. infact it fits in the gap very snuggly

I had an ebay special fan too, with a relay and a random 102 degree switch in the rad. IIRC I went 12" on the fan as I kept the plastic cowling infront of the rad as it seemed to help a lot with cooling. That with a 328 rad was good, sat just below 1/2 in normal driving and the fan cut in just over 1/2 in traffic.

That looks exactly like what I had just a bit bigger, fitting kit and all.

You might have space to lean the rad back to fit it rather than taking it out but its not a big job either way, takes longer mounting the relay and getting the wiring tidy.

Try to get a fan which has curved blades rather than straight ones.

yeah thats what i was thinking just unbolt the top and slide it down ill give it a go tomorrow and yes i have the fan with the curved blades not the flat ones:)

Got to agree with this, the difference is very noticeable.

I'm running an Ebay 16" pusher fan with curved blades activated from a Volvo temp switch which as the right threads for the 328i rad. Fan seems to be very efficient.
