Just wondering if anyone has had experience with fitting either an E36 or Z3 steering rack on their E30 M60 conversions... If so I was wondering if this has any great impact on clearance for the exhaust manifolds??

I am having custom manifolds made but just debating whether to swap the rack at present, will do so prior manifolds being made to ensure good clearance. Just wondering if anyone has fitted this combination already and what your experience of the impact on rack clearance was.

Cheers,

E36 rack is thinner than E30 rack, so it actually helps with the oil sump clearance.

Other than that, there shouldn't be any major differences, the driver's side manifold is a tight fit anyway.

I have a E46 rack on mine and the clearance sump wise is about 5mm but exhaust wise you will have to modify anyway if you use a E30, E36 or E46 rack

I have a e36 rack on mine, no clearance issues, although I am running the 20mm sub spacers
