previous owner had a tow bar fitted and just flat capped around the place in it ,wasnt the type of person to go modifying anything ,that was another point about the chrome i read that they didnt have chrome ,it has every thing else abs ,head light wipers, rear arm rest etc ,were these things you could have as options or something ?

My tech 1 is dolphin grey. It's the original colour so they must do

and that is houndstooth.. maybe. From what I can see.

0214 peral beige I think? It's not attractive but probably uber rare

yes on both accounts, there was no red tech 1, dolphin grey, black, and of course the best lachs silver :)

looks like a genuine sport, they were available with many spec options...elec or manual windows, sunroof, air con ,pas/non pas, interior trim, etc etc , and with the dwindiling numbers of tech 1 cars left/being saved... with the color, and various options combinations, there must be some "unique" ones around , or even the case of a lot of them are unique, with a slight variation...ie 2 might be the same, but one manual/1 elec windows, or 1 pas the other non pas etc

your interior looks quite 8O , although...that not the one walrus had for sale is it ??? that was E reg dolphin with that interior 8O 8O ,hope he hasnt put it in a container and came up with the story lol

ah right when ever i have searched for hounds tooth i have never seen it in this colour quite understandable why ,its all coming out anyway looks like some kind of smoke stained old mans club in there.

i was sure i had seen a grey tech one before too and this is defiantly original paint but just from what i was reading on a few forums when searching how to tell a genuine one. its mainly just out of interest the questions its just coincidence that its a sport its getting used for drag racing if my plan comes together right

explains quite alot from what i had read obviously all wrong the sports were just given top spec everything basically all the options and a close ratio box and lsd(please tell me this one is true) ,no this one has defiantly been there that long i remember it going in there

cheers for the reply s

Its odd the way the chrome doesn't continue to the doors like a chrome?

I know de-chroming was a spec you had to order but surely they didnt come half chromed if you didnt pay BMW to take them off!!

the other side might be back...ie its maybe had a replacement rear quarter on that side

all sport had some stuff the same, the gear box, lsd, black head lining, etc...but other "options" you chose, like the bits mentioned ,so you could pretty much specify the exact car you wanted, although it probably has...it doesnt mean thats still the lsd on the car but can be checked via a little thin metal tag on it, if its still on there, give it a wire brush and read it

you shouldnt drag race it, if its nice !

the chrome is exactly the same on both sides just on the rear windows it does look a little strange ,someone may have put it on at some stage ,it is a good one but it is just going to be a road going toy im not planing on spoiling it but it is defiantly getting a turbo and going up the drag strip , i originally planned to strip it to the bones for full light weight but it seems a bit too good for that will get a proper look at it on the weekend ,cheers for the help

In the pic, its only the pop out rear that has the chrome so they have obviously been replaced at some point.

Re; the Houndstooth, On a sport you could have it in anthracite (black/grey), natural (beige) or Indigo (blue).

It was also available in green or brown on non sport 325i's and 320i's.

There was without a doubt a Polaris siver Sport, was a thread a while ago about it. Everyone doubted it until the VIN was checked, was suspected to be a very early demo car prior to the full release of the sport. Looked ace! 8)

I'm still toying with the idea of making my Polaris chromie a full Sport rep since I've got all the parts and a black non sunroof headlining already in but not sure I can bring myself to fit it as I don't want to be drilling the sills.

do it kedge, would be super, different ! and no reason if its done properly that it would cause any issues, when we stripped mine there were no issues at all with the holes/fixings from the skirts rust wise

ive always liked the idea of a henna red tech 1 kitted car , if i could find a nice 318 henna with no rot (impossible) id tech 1 it as a daily driver to be good on fuel runaround

I know but It's not something that can be reversed easily if I change my mind later. I'm going for another look, full dechrome with bronze tint glass and body coloured bumpers. Will also keep a spare bootlid for spoilers as well.

could you not bond them on ? and use the clips at the bottom, also would prevent water geting in and totaly bond it around, would mess the paint up when removing , but better than holes, think the tech 1 bumpers/valances would look better than totaly color coded, might look a bit plasticky sort of think, chrome would look better

Not overly keen on any of the skirt fitting options really.

Have you not seen colour coded bumpers on a chromie? Look really good, they did a short run of 320s fully dechromed.

Gives you an idea,

Yep, It was me who done the investigation work. I to was one of the doubters as I have never seen another Polaris sport.

Oh and NEVER bond side skirts on as you cant remove the easily/without damage for annual cleaning/way oiling!

Duly noted, I've made my mind up after further trawling on E30.de that I won't be fitting skirts. 8)

First one will be similar to mine with the lights, although that is Lachs silver. Seems like shadowline was an option taken far more often in Europe than over here.
