Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could help. Ive got a 318is e30 an after buying it needed to rebuild the engine...this didnt solve the problem of tappets, knocks leaks etc, so have decided to get another m42 lump to hopefully bolt a supercharger on at a later date. The question i need help on people is:

Will the e36 m42 (early 318is e36 had the m42) fit straight in an on my gear box etc no problem, or is the loom, mounts, anything slightly different that id need to modify it? Just interested, because i want the newest lowest milage engine i can get lol

Cheers for any help advice in advance guys

Have a look in "engine swaps" forum. There's a thread there about the same thing.

yes to answer your question, that later m42/m44 will fit no problem, and will actually accept boost nicely because it has knock sensor's and some other electronic bullshit.. read up on it, im sure its been discussed countless times
