The "captive" bolts that are attached to the floorpan, which you bolt your gearbox mount to.
Anyone found an easy way to stop them spinning when they're not captive, or is it a case of stick a screwdriver in there to try stop them turning.
Obviously cleaning the threads will help..

If Im thinking of the right ones, the 'bolts' should have a sqaure head thats stops them spinning in the channel on the floorpan. They will only fit into the channel in one or two places (one sqaure hole at either end of the channel from memory) and they then slide along the channel to the right place for whichever gearbox you have.

Yeah, that's the ones. Problem is they just spin inside the channel, so I was wondering if someone had found a method of keeping them still whilst you do them up or undo them.
It almost seems as though the strip of metal above them is meant to be sprung to keep them in place.

Not sprung as far as I know, the few I've worked with have been a snug fit in the channel, no chance of them spinning.
I guess the screwdriver trick may work

I once ended up welding one in place. Tried everything to stop it spinning. Welding was my last resort.

Oh well, I'll just crack on and see how it goes.
Cheers for the advice.
