Need of advice
I'm trying to remove my rear subframe and Between the sub frame bush and the chassis there is a big washer.. Does that need to be removed? as one side of the bush pin has broken inside of the washer. And the other side Of the subframe seems to be stuck and I can't lower it
Any ideas? And yes I have removed the subframe bush bolt
Thanks

I left my diff in place when i did this and used the weight of the diff as leverage, by rocking it up and down gravity soon took over, place a sturdy crate under the diff if using the method and working on the ground, the washer stays in place if i remember correctly.

Iv just removed the trailer arms and diff now . So I'll give another go at it
On one side the the subframe bush metal insert(pin) has broken inside of the the washer so I'll guess il need to remove the washer

Finally iv managed to remove it
Now iv got a job in my hands to remove the Broken metal insert(part of he bush) which is stuck in the hole were the subframe bolt goes through. Hopefully using a chisel should do the trick !
Also the washer is removable and it deosnt stay in place

Remains of the alloy bush can be removed with a chisel/screwdriver easily enough.
Washer is supposed to be removable - sit it on top of the new bush when you refit the frame.
'Gravity took over' on the last one I removed, just as I walked under it. It hurt!

Not this one Brian. I was trying to chisel it out for over 3 hours without any joy and then the chisel went blunt. Hopefully this coming Sunday I'll have it out. I think I'll use some heat on it.Brianmoooore wrote:Remains of the alloy bush can be removed with a chisel/screwdriver easily enough.

Thinking about it today iv could have tapped some threads into it, then tightened a bolt underneath and then from inside of the car I could have got a long drift punch and hammered it out.
Any way it's to late for that, I think patience would have been the virtue For this but it's too late.

No I'm doing a swap with my spare set which I removed from my previous e30 which I scrapped. The spare set beam and
trailing arms have been polybushed already. The only things which will be changed are the bearings , Hand brake shoes, cables and nice set of 2pot WMS big brake kit
