The steering wheel fits all E8x 1 series and E9x 3 series. I've seen a few in cars at work but they are rare and NLA.

Doesn't the Ferrari Enzo have similar LED lights on the steering wheel ?

Btw I don't like rev counter warm up lights on the E46 M3 shouldn't they be linked to engine oil temperature ?

And do engine oil, gearbox oil, M Differential Oil do they all take roughly the same time to warm up ie 15 minutes of driving ?
Be nice if they provided temperature gauges for them ?

E46 M3s give Ferrari 355 owners, Porsche 996 Carrera 2 owners, Aston Martin DB7 owners, Jaguar XKR owners .... The original ones, Maserati 3200GT owners .... Non boomer rang lights .... Something to think about at night .... Probably nightmares lol

i dont get it..........the guage in the middle is smaller and harder to see than the one on the dash right?

and unless you are deaf and blind, then surely you can hear the engine to guage the revs and see the dash.....

i get the lights for a racing car, but not pootling down the road to tesco!

Yes it was a wankel engine in the RX7 but im sure there is some other 4 stroke jap rubbish that revs to 8k.

SMG was in the E36 M3 before the E46 but without drive logic programs.

The E32 750i used twin electronic throttles and there was even an electronic throttle fitted to E32 735i's that had traction control.

The E39 M5 also had an electronic throttle.

The Z3M was not a limited production car either and oh, the E39 M5 again had quad pipes before the E46 M3, and that was definitely a mainstream car.

The BMW Performance stuff was a range of dubious and expensive tat to replace AC Schnitzer tat. It's being discontinued gradually because buyers just aren't interested. I sold a white 320d M Sport Coupe (a nice car in its own right) with one of these daft wheels on as an ex demo. After a month the guy came back and asked us to refit the original....

Nope, the M52tu had traction as did the M52 before it but the tu still had a cable throttle.

The M54 that replaced it has the electronic throttle.

Are you sure? I'm 99% sure my mates T reg 520i auto touring has an electronic type throttle body, defo M52TU. E39's are a bit late for me! Do E46 323i and 328i's have EML?

I know someone who fitted temp sensors to gearbox and diff on an S50 converted E30 (sensors were in place of the drain plugs from memory). He was telling me that its very surprising just how long the gearbox and diff oil takes to warm up under normal driving conditions.

The cable is attached to the pedal and the electronic part is for DSC/ASC control.

It's one unit unlike the M52's two part throttle body when it has ASC.

Depends on how the car is driven.

For example, diff oil will heat up quicker if the car is driven at high speed.
