Ladies
I have just had my renewal through for my AA breakdown cover. The cost is now £184.32 a year the basic roadside/relay cover.
Now being a lover of rusty old turds I think its a necessity but thats very steep.
A quick search on the net comes back with The Green Insurance Company coming back with the same level of cover for £58
Has anyone had any experience of this company?
I hate having my pants pulled down.

Do it through quidco, I got mine as a new policy for approx £90 then got £60 cashback. So £30 all in for the year. Takes about 3 months for the cashback to come through though.

RAC mate, you are the member and covered for whatever vehicle you are travelling in, even when a passenger in someone else's turd.
New customers always get the red carpet treatment. So give them a try.

My AA policy is the same as this. I'm going to ring and moan. If the price stay's the same I will vote with my feet.

All in for £106.80
That's an £80 pish take from the AA
I'm going to go through all my other policies just to see if I can save a few quid!

Anyone that has a tesco clubcard, it's worth looking at the RAC cover through the clubcard deals, bargain.

The AA 'cover' via a bank account was what I relied on when a m20b27 gave in where the M3 joins the M25. Took 5hrs (2am it went bang) and it cost me over 200 notes to get it home as the 'cover' only err covers a short distance.

My renewal has just come through from the AA, will be doing the same as last year and starting up a new account with them via Quidco. Although the RAC might be worth a luck suing my Tesco voucers.

mine came free with insurance, full european breakdown cover and fully comp insurance for £480 I'm 25 with 0 years no claims and driving conviction.
So depending on when your insurance is due etc, maybe you could consider that, as its always cheaper or free if you include it with the insurance.

Just looked at the quidco thing and people are saying they are waiting 11 months for the cashbac
Just checked mine to make sure what happened with mine:
Purchased: 14 March 2021
Purchase Price: 97.00
Cash Back: £60
Cash Back Paid: 01 July 2012
So it did take just under 4 months but full cover including everything apart from european cover and the extended warranty thing they offer for £37 for a whole year is not bad.

Do you get the recovery to take you back home or is it to the nearest garage?

Everything bar european cover. I checked that as I got stung with the first AA cover I took when I got the E30 as it broke down 40 miles from home the day I bought it and the AA made me pay an extra £80 on the spot to get it home. Otherwise they would only take it 10 miles to a garage and I was about 14 miles away from Boyds.

I think mine was around £50 through my insurance. Currently putting it to the test as I've broken down in morning traffic on Henly's Corner.
Although I just found out I'm limited to 10miles recovery, then I have to pay the rest. Not a problem in this case but shall be making amends to that shite idea..

I've tried this before with the RAC and AA. But they wouldn't allow it. Something along the lines of not being able to get a call out within 24hrs of activating the cover with there being an energy fee...

Same. I get the full level of cover for £120 or whatever and then get £60-£70 back.

Same here! However, I took my son's golf to Manchester last season to watch Arsenal. We got a flat on the way home (spare had been removed for some stupid reason) and had to call them out.
They will do anything to avoid getting you home. We eventually got in at 5.30am!
