Car was going well today :) Got a set of Goodyear f1 tyres on there at the moment which I quite like, will be getting r888's or similar over winter ready for trackdays next year. Managed to hold a 3rd gear drift on the trackday which I quite impressed myself with lol!

The Kenlowe fan I fitted works brilliantly, well worth the money! And the WMS brake kit and Superblue brake fluid combo are still faultless, although on one particularly hard session when chasing an MR2 turbo I did have smoke coming off of the rear pads when I came back into the pits! winkeye

Car is off the road now for the winter, got a big list of jobs to do. I'll make sure I start taking more photos as a build thread without photos is boring!

Checked the car over and the water pump has play in it, there is a power steering leak, and 3rd gear is not very healthy so box rebuild time!

Plans are to sort the above, fit my e46 rack, front coilovers, VDO gauges, and get a few patches of welding done mainly, plus all the other bits and pieces so it should be even better for trackdays next year!

Part of me is saying put a m60 in, but I'm liking my M30 lots so think I'll have a play about with getting some more power out of it too after the rest of the car is sorted :D

Managed to fit in a couple of hours on the car this afternoon, got everything disconnected from the engine ready to lift out:

Image

And took the e30 rack out ready to be replaced with the e46 one. Going to get it all fitted up and the exhaust modified before I lift the engine out so it is all ready to go when I put the engine back in.

Image

Whilst the engine is out I think it would be rude not to take the head off and get it worked on and a high lift cam put in :) Have thought about forced induction, but going to keep it N/A I think.

That's the e30 rack I took out, the e46 one is much cleaner :)

The engine bay is clean enough, bit of a wipe round with a cloth will suffice, it's not a show car! :D

Danthe does the kit with hoses spacers etc or you could do it DIY, there's a guide in the wiki somewhere for E36 rack,E46 rack is basically the same.

Not had an update for a while, been collecting bits like water pump and new drive belts, got a couple of weeks off work over Christmas to get the gearbox out and fit all the new parts. Got a nice 6 branch exhaust manifold to fit as well, once the e46 rack is in I can get it modified to fit, should release a few hidden bhp's with a bit of luck. Been decorating our house and rendering the rental house so not much time for e30 fettling at the moment :(

It's an ANSA one, from an e32, so needs modifying to fit an e30, especially one with an e46 rack!

Looking forward to getting them fitted, think I might go for a custom single pipe exhaust system using Jetex parts, should be a bit lighter and easier to put together than a twin pipe system.

Fit a twin pipe man, they have more of a ring to them than a fat single pipe IMO.

Do they really sound that much different? I'm not overly bothered how it sounds to be honest, as long as it is quiet enough to pass noise tests on trackdays.

The pipe would be the same area as the twin pipes so it wouldn't be restrictive: http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=230097

Got the manifolds and down pipes off today

Image

Offered up the new manifolds, the front one fits ok, but the rear one will need modifying on cylinders 4 and 5. Should be fun, trying to keep them the same length and getting them to fit in the car and around the steering column

Image

Also got the head ready to take off apart from the timing chain and cover, when I took off the rocker cover it looks like brand new inside so the engine has obviously been serviced properly in the past :)

Started on the custom steering column linkage as well, need to split the 2 U/J's, add the e30 top part and then that will be ready to fit

That seems to be a awful lot of work, better sell this stuff to someone with a LHD... Like me :)
Nice buy! They look like Alpina's.

:D

I know it will take a bit of fiddling to get it right, but I think it should be worth it, and yes it would be a lot easier to fit them on a LHD, but I like a challenge!

So close you cant get the rear manifold near where it should go to trial fit it!

It needs 2 of the primarys modified to get it to fit, I might have to change the angles of the flanges as well to clear the steering column, but won't be able to work out if I need to until I get the rear manifold trial fitted
