Hello, have been wondering and chatting to some people about the possible power you can get out of a m20 2.5 engine.
I am looking for 230bhp as my friend has a 200sx s13 running 217.1bhp and i am pissed off taking digs about how slow my e30 bruiser is.... :-x
I have a 325is m tech 1 1986.... with the usual mods, stainless exhaust, induction kit, chip etc etc
I am looking to replace the cam, manifold, and purchase an uprated throttle body (from e3ozone shop).... Also as the engine is in bits at the mo i am getting the head ported and gas flowed, but what power could this give me...
I am then going to change the induction kit to a pipercross viper, and lastly get a remap at chippeduk who have reported gains of 21-22bhp on a standard 325is... :D
At the end of the day i need more power but do not want to go down the turbo/supercharger road unless totally neccessary to gain the power i want... winkeye

im not sure if 230 bhps possible in a non turbo e30 without spending serious cash.turboing gives the best return in bhp per Ԛ£ spent and gives a much bigger scope for future tuning when you get bored of the power (and you always do) im not sure how reliable an engine is when you turbo it and its not originally designed for it.im sure someone else can answer that one winkeye

its not all about HP your weight is just as important my mate has the same nissan and i reckon my 2.3 alpina will stay with him with 170 hp at the end of the day its what gets down to the wheels that counts so give him a go before you get into a HP war :D
just make sure you whoop his ass

You'll need 2.7 to achieve 230 bhp and lots and lots of work to head and block.

Better off going turbo if you like that sort of power delivery but it will be extremely quick.

If you want a real quick car with the best engine noise throw in an E34 M5 3.6 engine. Guaranteed at least 310 bhp.

or in the bang per buck stakes, drop in a 3.5 M30. it's about the cheapest way of getting over 200bhp i've found.

early ones are 218bhp, late ones are 211bhp.

i've just bought one for Ԛ£50!!! :D
