The other day whilst driving my 318is I heard a rubbing sound from the front, just as i was running up the slip road on to the motorway. I thought it might be something to do with the brakes as I'd just had discs/pads replaced, but there again the sound didn't change when I applied the brakes. Wondering what it could be, I drove on. A few minutes later I realised it must be one end of the front lip spoiler dragging on the tarmac. I pulled over to the hard shoulder. As I braked, the inertia of the spoiler made it fly forward and detach itself completely. I then of course ran over it. Arse.
Still, it's fixable.... It's just that I can't see what is supposed to hold it on. There's some white nylon clips along the bottom of the "standard" spoiler which the fogs are mounted in, but they don't seem to grip or snap onto the lip spoiler in any way. Are they broken? Or maybe it's supposed to detach fairly easily so it doesn't damage the rest of the frront, should you hit a kerb or speed bump... It looks like there were some double sided sticky strips in places too. I'll probably put it back on using something similar. It just doesn't seem very solid, and I don't really want to run it over again!
How would it originally have been fitted?

This is what holds it on. Nothing else.

Just bought ten of these clips (full set) from the local bmw dealer - they are about 30p each and they sell them in black or white.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The clips on mine look broken, will source some replacements...
