If you are able to get to it and struggle then crack on, the only other way is to strip the interior and remove the entire loom from the car.

Your other option is to get up behind the glovebox and undo the 2 9mm plastic nuts holding the loom in place, it gives you just enough play in the loom to undo the fuse box and move it around slightly, but you will still have the issue of the loom being in the way when welding. Plus when you do get to this area, expect more rust as its a known spot for rust and if you've already found some, expect more...

What Jim means is that the loom is fixed to the fusebox,so to remove the fusebox you have to remove the body loom,a time consuming task involving removing most of the interior trim.

Release the loom across the rear of the boot, across the rear seat, across the dash, and all the way down the LH side of the car, push the grommet back through the bulkhead behind the fusebox, unscrew the two screws that hold the box in place, then pull the whole interior loom through into the engine compartment.
Sorry, but that's the only practical way to remove it, although you can get it to lift partly out of the way by cutting a few cable ties behind the glovebox to give a little more 'spare' cable.
