Hello, maybe a dumb question but i have a 325is 1986, and it is sitting pretty bloody low, (running on 16's 0n 205/50/16 and still rubbin'!!)
I looked to see what shocks i have, to see if it was standard, and found that i had BOGE shocks on the back.... Are these standard or are they aftermarket?? If they are standard why is the car so damn low?
cheers :drive:

If by '325is' you mean an M-tech 1 sport then yea they're standard (available from GSF). Only lowers by about 15mm though, whats the camber on the rear wheels like?

Actually there is quite a bit of camber on the rears as well as fronts......The top edge of the tyre is actually sitting inside the arch...
I could not even get the tracking done as the garage could not fit the things on the wheels. ( as a result of the camber and how low it is....)
Oh and yes it is an m tech 1 sport.....

How on earth do you guys fit 17's on there.... what profile tyres are you on, 35's? 8O

Its the springs that govern the ride height, not the shocks.

EDIT:

I had the same problem with mine, running 205/50/16's, realy bad neg camber, as rubbing on arches under heavey acceleration. so i changed the rear springs to IS springs.

how do you mean rubbing?
contantly or just when you have car lean round a bend / on a bump / with passengers
what rims do you have? sounds as if maybe the offset is not right
i am running 205/50/16 on my bobett A's and when i hammer round a left hander i get rubbing on the right rear, its because the rims offset is 20mm instead of the stock crosspokes being 28mm.
is this anything like your prob?

Mine was mainly when i had the family in the car, but then it was nearly on the bump stops, The wheels i have are compmotive AT's (Trackstar) with an ET24.

It used to sit with the top of the tyre covered by the arch, no room between tyre sidewall and arch.

defo sounds like offset to me
but i am no expert
and i thought 24 would be fine as i am running 20 and it is only fractionaly rubbing.

Well my car rubs on the front when going round bends at speed and will rub on the back over bumps in every day driving......
If i was to have more than two people(including me) in the car it would rub on the back almost constantly over any ruts or bumps in the road......
The rims are multispoke tsw's.... soon to be 17's m3 e36 replicas if i can get this suspension prob sorted..... winkeye

Mine was not a constant rubbing, it would only rub in extreme drivng, and then, it would only be a small smount on the sidewall of the tyre, just enough to leave a mark on the tyre.

the lowest springs ive seen are -60 but maybe a previous owner also cut a rung off  16s shouldnt rub if the wheels are the correct fitment. my 17's dont rub at all, i use 205x40x17 and have -40 springs.
