where is the max skimming point notch on the 731 head?

getting the 731 head skimmed this weeekend and i cany for the life of me see the notch that tells you "dont skim past me mr!" i plan on taking a good bit off but want to leave enough meat there for just one last skim should i ever need a head gasket done on it down the line

disclaimer: i put this in engine swaps and forced induction as i thought people do this to increase power - it could just as easily go into technical though

According to the bentley book the height of the head should be no less than 124.7mm.
New they are 125.1mm.
Not a lot to play with :mad:

thats a shame - usually heads have a sort of guide line notch or indent that u cant skim past....

The marks you are looking for I think are seen well enough in this picture.

This is a 885 head casting, but the marks should be there as well on yours.

They are on the exhaust side, between headbolt holes #1-2 and #6-7

if u have the right equipment you should not need a mark...

normaly these heads suffer water jacket damage skimming not normaly neccisary.
