Ok im in the process of changing the fuel pump on my 87 metal bumpered 325i cabriolet....
This amongst other jobs has been on the 'to do' list for a while now, hence the Bosch fuel pump (PN:441110030) bought from ECP via their website has been sitting in the garage since May... In the descripton on their webste it says '3 series coupe/cabriolet 2.5', so assumed it would be alright...
This weekend, i managed to get some time to spend on the old girl, so followind a few guides on the zone, i removed the sender unit under the driver side inspection panel under the rear seat....
To my horror, the pump seems the wrong one, the new one is way bigger....
Is my system a two pump system?.... if so, where is the second one situated?
Is the one I bought for a one pump system??...
Can it be altered to use in my car, as I doubt ECP will take it back after 4 months.....
EDIT: I do still have the invoice for the pump from Euros..
Bloody cars..!
87 325i Cabriolet fuel pump...Which one???

Really need to see what you have to comment, but all fuel pumps fit into the same fuel tank hole except for the earliest Jetronic cars, and there wasn't a Jetronic 325.
Are we talking about just the metal pump cylinder, or the entire pump mount? There is a chance ECP have sent you the wrong part.

There were no Jetronic 325s but there were plenty of Motronic 325s with external main pumps.
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

As clipper says, they've sent you an external fuel pump (now I've checked, these were used on Motronic 1.0 systems).
Best thing to do is email them and have it switched with any E30 pump from 1988 onwards.

The third item down in the link below, priced at £186... Seems to come with the complete pump mount etc...
Can the pump to this be bought seperately??

No info on that link. However, you should always compare part numbers with those found on RealOEM or bmwfans.info.
However, the actual pump can be de-soldered and a new one attached without the need to buy the full mount.

ECP website is giving wrong info. - it still shows the pump you have bought for much later E30s, so you have a good chance of being able to return it, since it's "unfit for purpose".
May be worth getting in touch with Meatballs82 on here, ask ask him for the correct part number. If you can get a full refund from ECP, then buy it from him.

Thanks for the clarification, I will try with ECP in the morning...
From experience, has the pump I need ever been bought without the assembly?
From what i can make out from real oem, the part number for the pump i need is 16141184022.... Will quote this to them tomorrow.....
Will report back in due course.....

I still recommend you check it out with Meatballs. He's the manager of a branch of ECP who deals direct with zone members, giving good discounts.
Send him a PM, giving him the URL for this thread : http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... 59#2476659
